Morning Bells are Ringing

Short Story by Alariea
Posted: Nov 4, 2010
Words for a lost older brother.

Not a writer. Just like to write.

My Bio...

          Well...

I'm still actively living it, or uh... I mean writing it.

                             (My humor sucks)

But I'll throw you my, "From the beginning..." or "Once upon a time..." line that has become a kind of cliche from me when uncomfortably attempting to unrobe my past. Don't get excited, it's only a peak show.

Here goes...

My name is Katherine, or Katie as most call me, and I am the only daughter born of 5 brothers (one gone). I was raised for the first 14 years of my life on a boat along the Indian River. The southern east coast of Florida was my playground... Or better put, my little adventure wonderland. I knew very little of the common, civil American lifestyle and modern technology. Harbors and islands were the life I knew. Though sharing a bow cabin with my little  brother seemed cramped at times, just beyond my port window, a world of adventures awaited my part-take. And my parents, being the "land-lubber" busy bees they were, gave my brothers and I the freedom to explore as far as our curiosity (or bravery) would take us. Of course on his weekends off, my father never passed up on the opportunity to set the record straight on how a "real" adventure was played, and my mother always came along for the ride. Going from island to island and setting camp at our favorites, we tackled everything from fishing for our own dinner to diving for treasure. Awe, the sun-kissed sands of life. -Literally- But oh, the storms...

(I'm not weird, I swear. Mermaids... Now those bitches are weird!)

Okay, okay!   ::Serious face::

Since my life from sea to shore...

Never mind, that would just take way too long. So to summarize:

-I ventured into the flesh eating realm of High school (My brothers and I had been home schooled previously during our salty escapades).

-Traveled the world a bit.

-Conquered the challenges of school, jobs, girlfriend gossip, and of course... Boys.

-Joined an environmental campaign States away.

-Fell in love. He fell out. Tried going gay. Didn't last.

-Tried Yoga. Loved it. Still addicted.

-Went Vegan. Still currently dealing with my brothers shoving hot dogs in my face at every family get-together. Joyous.

-Had kids. My heart exploded! Still, the best decision I ever made in my life.

-Got married. FAIL.

- Welcomed into single motherhood.

-Love my home. Trying out gardening. The hilarious bonding hours of my mother teaching me how to use a lawn-mower for the first time in my life... Priceless.

-Had a cancer scare. Made a pledge to do my part in helping fight the demon and save lives.

-Stumbled onto this website. Loved it. And now unsuccessfully writing my bio. My apologies of raping you of the valuable minutes it took you to read this. (My bad)

-Now finishing this bio.

-Finished.
