I was born and raised in North Carolina, where my heart still resides; but now live in Ontario, Canada. Since retiring I have the time to spend on my passion, which is writing.
I'm a young sixty-one years ; I say "young" because I still feel young most of the time. I love to laugh and have a sense of humor, which my family tells me, sways toward the wicked side. I have a notable temper; but in my defense, it takes allot to boil me over.
My kids say I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Stuff) and I don't disagree with them. There is enough clutter up there and I don't want to be a hoarder; so I try to keep enough space ramble. (Pun intended)
For the most part I am easy going and I am a people person.I am fascinated by the human mind and even more so by the idea we only use about ten percent of it's capabilities. Some use less than that; but let's go on the averages.
I am advocate for those who were born with disabilities; having worked with them for many years. They are truly gifts that go largely unrecognized by most.
That being said, I don't like ignorant people who open their mouths before their brain is fully engaged. Those who judge without knowing; speak without compassion and give their opinions without being informed. There is no cure for stupid; but it can be hidden well if one keeps their mouth shut.
I love sixties music, because I can understand the lyrics in the songs from back then. I also like classical, jazz and some country. I love art in any form; from fine paintings to modern graffiti (without gang logos).
I paint my canvas' in words and for me it is a way of expressing myself. My philosophy about writing can be read "Inside a Writer's Mind a Painter Lives."
I am most proud of my novel: Otter's Pond. It's written with a southern flavor and if you have time to read it I would appreciate it greatly.Readers have compared it to Stand by Me; which is a wonderful compliment to receive.
From children's stories, to humor and science fiction, I enjoy the process of putting words on paper and seeing what evolves.
I write almost everyday so hopefully you will find something to your liking to read. I am prolific, some might even say to the extreme, but it is my passion. For that I offer no apologies. You don't excel in anything if you don't put the time in to learn and develop your skills. To me writing is as essential as breathing.
I also read allot of booksie authors, and enjoy seeing the talent and creativity that is on this site. It takes looking around, but it can be found! I have found many that rank high in talent and over the moon with creativity. In the process I have made some good friends and met allot of really genuine people.
I don't read Romance novels...Vampire (anything)....Werewolves fall in the same category as Vampires....Religious or Political themed work (since I think it is a very personal individual decision as to one's spiritual and political beliefs) and lastly Space / Alien stories that involve wars and conquering galaxies. So, please do not send reading requests for critique on these subjects. I'm not putting anyone's genre down; it just doesn't interest me.
I do read poetry of any kind, short stories and a few novels (if they are well written). I like new concepts and unique pieces. Anything with an unexpected twist is good and of course humorous works are always welcome.
If you read my work, please leave a comment, to let me know what was wrong or right, so that I can improve as a writer.
I will do the same for you.Clicking the "Like" button is acceptable too! Afterall, we writers do have our egos to support
I generally don't send out reading requests; so if you've found me, I hope you enjoy my page enough to come back again.
** I would suggest that if you're new to booksie, you check out some other writers that I admire and enjoy immensely:
dibbledabble
Mike Stevens
Ben A Vanguarde
brucek
moonphish
CRoberts
Tyler Benjamin
LightFeather09
Kathleen Oakwood
These are by no means all the good writers on here, but it gives you a place to start reading! :)
* Thumblina does interviews with authors on here. If you want to be interviewed drop a message on her site!
It helps to get your name out there and she asks fun questions that let your personailty show. Take time to read her work as well! :)
