Quite simply my words are my thoughts. My poems are imperfect but my words are honest and heart-felt, my structure is un-structured. I have a love of poetry and am a huge fan of Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickenson, my inspiration comes from all the hurt I see and all the love that surrounds it. I see writing like a therapy for the soul, and always take a poem as a gift from someones heart, I don't think poetry can be right or wrong, its personal, introspective, offering a glimps into a beautiful mind. I love reading all your poems and am in awe of the talent here, keep writing, keep reading and keep believing!x
I love this poem by Emily Dickenson, it's probably my favorite;
I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading – treading – till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through –
And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum –
Kept beating – beating – till I thought
My Mind was going numb –
And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul
With those same Boots of Lead, again,
Then Space – began to toll,
As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear,
And I, and Silence, some strange Race
Wrecked, solitary, here –
And then a Plank in Reason, broke,
And I dropped down, and down –
And hit a World, at every plunge,
And Finished knowing – then –
Another of my all time favorite poems by the wonderful Robert Frost:
Aquainted with the night
I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.
I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,
But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
A luminary clock against the sky
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.
Time for a little bit more about me!!
My poetry: All of my poems are written from truth, from honesty and from experience.
