Dear Booksie people,
I am not dead. I have had no time to do anything besides be a sophomore lately and feel really bad about it. Seriously, I haven't sat down and written fiction in who knows how long. The only books I've read since September have been Beowulf, Macbeth, and my world history textbook. I'd like to say I'll get to reading your work around thanksgiving break, but you know how that goes. As of now I should be plan-less enough to read some awesome Booksie writing. Hopefully.
Now, back to comparing Japanese and European feudalism...

Detasseling = evil. I'm going to write a story about it. I've been inspired.

I actually DO like comments, despite what everyone seems to think...

You know what? Forget it. Starting now I'm deleting the spam comments. Either no one is listening to my pleas, or they just don't care; either way, I'm sick of it. So: Goodbye Spammers! No hard feelings, but we'll just have to catch up another time! *waves*

Hey! SR has finally been updated! Sorry for taking so long.
Apr 22, 2009
Hello. I am in a bitter mood today, but it has nothing to do with what I am about to say. Since none of you guys seem to be reading my red writing at the bottom of my profile (or at the top, for that matter) I must say this: I am deciding NOW that I refuse to read spam. I refuse to read anything you ask me to read in a spam message (i.e. What happens when Janelle gets thrown into a world of vampires and make believe--and what happens when the boy of her dreams tells her he knows all about what is happening--even though she doesn't?! Well, find out in *insert title here* I'd love to know what you think of my novel! THANKS SO MUCH! :) ) Yeah, I--and you, obviously--joined Booksie to get feedback from others on my OWN work. No offense, but I didn't join to tell YOU GUYS (especially if I've never heard of you or read your work before) what I love or what sucks about your writing (i.e. vampire love story [gag]) Oh, and another thing--no more Twilight knock-offs. Just because you write a story about a vampire and a human loving each other despite immeasurable odds, doesn't mean you're the next Stephenie Meyer. I'm reading a couple vamp stories right now (that are super-original) and mine is on hold for the time being, but that's all I'm going to be reading. No. More. Vampire. Love...Seriously. Get a brainwave. . . So, yeah, if you read something of mine, provide CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, and THEN ask me to return the favor, I will. But if I don't see an orange message box before I see your comment, forget it. Unless you're updating something I've been reading or have an HONEST question about a specific thing in a specific piece of your own writing (that you don't go asking everyone from here to the moon), I think you can afford to give me some feedback, too. For more explanation on why I said this, see the red and green words at the bottom of my profile...Thanks for understanding. -Catherine

Oh, my gosh, okay. So, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Read it.
Mar 27, 2009
Okay, so I am feeling good. My main character for the screenplay I'm writing got a 5 on the Mary-Sue Litmus Test. That's really good! I'm feeling really good about this piece right now, so I'm probably going to shift my attention to that for a bit. I'll have to take time soon to update SR, just so you guys get a little more before I go on an indefinite hiatus (from SR), though. So, yeah, a 5! Just for the record, Emma got a 24--which is not AWFUL, but 5 is way better. :D -Cat

It's spring break! Woo-hoo!
Mar 3, 2009
So, recently I've been mildly obsessed with a couple books. They're part of a series written by Carrie Jones (www.carriejonesbooks.com). The first one is called: Tips on Having a Gay (ex) Boyfriend. The Second is called: Love (and Other Uses for Duct Tape). I know they might sound kind of lame, but they really are REALLY good. They're pretty short too, so if you're looking for a good, quick-read, you should check 'em out. ....Thanks for listening to my babble:) -Cat
Feb 18, 2009
Woo-hoo!! So I officially handed in all my Shaker material today: essay (and all the jazz that goes along with it) and notecards, and the final Shaker library book. *sigh of relief* Gosh, I'm so happy. I'll be able to get to reading your work soon, so don't worry! The time has arrived! ;) haha. :D -Cat
Feb 12, 2009
Okay, guys, I'm really, really sorry! I've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to find the time to read your work. But, once I get a chance, I WILL read them. I promise! I promise! I promise!
Feb 11, 2009
Okay, this is not really news, but I am very thankful, so I want to get this out there: Thank goodness for gum (I just put a whole pack of Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Dragon Fruit in my mouth). Otherwise I would be chewing on little bloody pieces of cheek and tongue flesh right now. Yuck. Okay, and Shaker funeral essays are frickin' HARD to write. Meh!! So, there, now it's news; I talked about writing.
Feb 10, 2009
Gah!
Feb 4, 2009
Okay...so I don't want to make any excuses. I'll just say: I'm sorry. I really, truly am. I know it's been over two months since I've updated my novel, but....okay, no buts. I'm just really sorry. Yeah, you know the drill...so, I've posted a new poem.. you can read it.. or not. But again, I am REALLY, REALLY sorry. :( -Cat
Jan 14, 2009
Woo-hoo! Okay, this is NOT writing related, really, but we had a snow day today! woot-woot! AND they even called it off for tomorrow already, too! *sigh* But now we're going to be going to school 'til the tenth of June. *sigh* But, oh, well. I'll be doing research for L.A. tomorrow and playing in the snow like the little kid I am. haha. Oh, if anyone has any information on Shaker funerals, please let me know--that's what my research for L.A. is about. *sigh* meh-heh! Double Snow Day!! ^_^ haha.
Jan 3, 2009
Hey, don't be mad at me, but guess what I just did? I wrote a nearly 2,000 word essay/memoir thing instead of work on SR. Ah! Oh, well. I posted it, so I would love it if you would read it and comment. Pretty please? Oh, and I posted a new poem called 'The Storm.' I'd love comments on that, too. Thanks! -Cat
Dec 31, 2008
Oh gosh. Ow! You know those mind-splitting headaches that come on faster than a tidal wave? Yeah, just got one. Grrr. But that's not really news, I guess...huh. So, let's see...news...SR: This next chapter is going to be long. Like, SUPER-LONG, unless I cut it into two, which I very well might, depending on how it flows and how things work out. But, yeah...so far it's kind of being a pain in the butt. BUT, it's cooperating a little more as of late. I'm going to (okay, it just took me seven tries [no joke] to type out 'going to') have to edit it a lot. Right now I just need to unjumble my brain, THEN I'll go back and make it good. Ha. So, yeah, there's some news for ya. Hopefully I'll be able to update before break is up. I really want to get to 100,000 words. Wish me luck! ...... -Eccentric Author About To Go Get Buzzed Off Of Mountain Dew And Sparkling Grape Juice ;-)
Dec 24, 2008
I am officially "random". How do I know this? you ask. Even my 'Random' folder has a 'Random' folder. Oh my oh my...Yes, that's right--I just "folder-ized" my files, even more so than they already were. I even got all my SR stuff into six folders. Granted, some of those folders have multiple folders of their own...But, whatever. So...yeah...Yay! for computer file-folders!
Dec 24, 2008
Okay, so editing all day today has kind of gotten me in the Sibling Rivalry mood. I'll definitely be writing some more in the next couple of weeks. I really want to get to 100,000 words over break. It's bothering me a bit that I'm so close, but not yet there. . . . Thanks for listening and putting up with me. -Catherine
Dec 24, 2008
Okay, well...I'm not feeling too great right now. I'm not sick or anything, my mental mood is just kind of...off. So, I've decided to go through the rest of SR and edit, instead of write--at least for now. Maybe I'll write some more later this week. I wrote about five poems in ten minutes last night, so I'll maybe post those. I don't know, though. Happy holidays, everyone. -Catherine
Dec 19, 2008
YAY! Snow day! *happy snow-dance* Ahh...I never thought I'd be happy to see so much snow...I think I AM going crazy...*sigh* Oh, well. It was bound to happen sooner or later...
Dec 18, 2008
Okay, just a heads-up: I'm officially deciding now that I am going to be pretty much gone from Booksie for the next few days. I have a major biology project and an L.A. paper due at the beginning of next week. Plus, I'm going to be at school all day Saturday for show choir. So...I might get on, but I probably won't have time to read your work. I'll get to it once life settles down, though. . .Oh, and everyone, if you get the chance, ask the clouds to pelt eastern Iowa with ice and snow tonight and tomorrow. Snow day, anybody? (I'll be able to work on my projects=D) Thanks. -Cat
Dec 17, 2008
Okay, no, my keyboard did not eat me. I know I haven't updated in a while (especially Sibling Rivalry) and I'm really sorry, but I've been really busy. That's the commonly used excuse, I know, but I really have been. I have a couple big projects due soon, and I've also had a lot of other stuff going on. Oh, and SR is just being mean. Seriously, I think every single character (except Michael--he's around most of the time, for some reason) has taken a vacation from my brain. And you know what? They're probably down in Florida, or Arizona, or some place like that. It's really cold here in Iowa, and I think they're sick of the cold. So, I'm really sorry, but SR won't be updated for a while. I'll explain more later.

*muttering* ...snow...*mumbly nonsense*

I. Hate. Snow.
Dec 2, 2008
Woo-hoo! Chapter 20 of Sibling Rivalry is up and running! *happy dance* I hope you guys like it:)
Nov 30, 2008
Hey hey! Just so you know, I posted edited versions of chapters 1-10 of Sibling Rivalry. I'll be posting chapter 20 tomorrow. =D
Nov 28, 2008
Okay, so I'm not going to delete it, but you can just completely disregard that last post. It was made clear to me today that there are some huge changes I need to make in chapter 20. I WILL NOT be able to get them done in the next hour, so, sorry, but 20 is not going to be posted as soon as I thought. I'm really sorry. Hopefully I'll be able to make the right changes to it so you guys can read it without cringing. Again, I'm very sorry. Thanks for understanding my inabilities. -Cat
Nov 28, 2008
So...I'm thinking I'll maybe be nice today and post chapter 20 of Sibling Rivalry...I have to do some more editing on it, then it should be at least halfway-decent. Sorry it's taken me so long; I got distracted editing the REST of the novel. I started at the beginning, and I'd just like to say, I'm sorry. I didn't even realize how much it sucked until I went back (after much improvement) and read it again. So, sorry. And thanks to everyone who still likes it anyway. :) Hopefully I'll be able to repost the (somewhat) edited chapters soon, too. Thanks for once again, reading the ramblings of a struggling author. -Cat
Nov 26, 2008
To 'Bodici22': Thanks.
Nov 12, 2008
Okay, so I'm about to start writing chapter 21 of Sibling Rivalry. Yes, that means I've got 20 finished. No, I haven't posted it, yet. Okay, you know how I kept saying that the next chapter was going to be Emma's first day of class...but then I kept changing it and taking it somewhere else? Yeah, I swear to you that chapter 21 IS--without a doubt...as in, there's NO WAY to get around it--going to be Emma's first day of class...What does that mean? It means that some serious brainwaves are going to be required to write this chapter...honestly, this is probably going to be one of the most difficult chapters so far to write...why? Because I have no idea how to write about a Vampire and Caduto Angelo Physiology and Geneology class...or a History of the War for Dominance class...or a Vampire Sociology class...haha, not to mention the Fight Skills class...so, yeah...I've got some thinking to do. Why is this important? you ask. Well, because I want to know something; so here's your question: I know I've just posted chapter 19, but what I need to know is if you want me to post chapter 20 as soon as possible and then you'll have to wait a LONG time for chapter 21, OR do you want me to wait a while to post chapter 20 so you don't have as long a break between chapters? Okay, so I'd LOVE to hear your guys' opinion on this. I feel so bad, but trust me, once we get through these ground-laying chapters, the story will get crazy. ha. So, tell me what you think. Thanks!
Very truly and confused,
-Catherine

Fandango Fan Alert!! Yes!! I've got my Twilight tickets!! If you LOVE Twilight, you'd better check out Fandango and get yours!! haha. just thought I'd mention that...it really doesn't have much to do with anything besides my unholy, unhealthy obsession, but...=D
Oct 25, 2008
Hey, guess what 8 hours of sitting around being bored and two hours of riding a bus equal? Some downtime where I can finally chill and write. I got some more of 18 written today and I wrote a couple poems that i should be posting...maybe. one's a concrete(or, it's going to be)...hey! I needed one for my writing portfolio for creative writing class! Yes! haha. XD
Oct 19, 2008
Come on, people! All these zeros are KILLING ME! COMMENTS!! ...heehee...uh...please? *big kitten eyes* I'd love some on my newest short story, 'A Lewd Arrangement'...Thanks! =D
Oct 3, 2008
Yay! Chapter 17 of SR is up!! MUAHAHAHAHA!
Sep 30, 2008
Okey-doke artichokes, so...heehee. Guess what? Chapter 17 of SR might be done sooner rather than later! Why? Well, you know how I keep saying that the next chap is going to be Em's first day of class? haha. guess what? I'm going to stop saying that. Why? Cuz I keep getting distracted and taking things in new directions...(for once in my life, I'm goint to thank my bro's football game for this). Hmmm. So, the next, probably two chapters of SR are not going to be Em's first day of Vamp-class. hahahaha. They'll be WAY more exciting than that...trust me. K, so...just wanted to update y'all. :) (yeah, yeah, I said y'all. Sue me. Go TEXAS!!)
Sep 24, 2008
OMFG!! JUST ABOUT TWENTY SECONDS AGO, I HAD THE MOST AWESOME THOUGHT!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! OMFG!! HAHA. I can't tell you, though...it's a new story idea...I'm thinking...novel. Heehee. Or novella...*snicker*
Sep 12, 2008
Yay! Sibling Rivalry is actually on the Featured Writing list! Very top! =D heehee. sorry, I get a little over-excited sometimes...lol. :D Oh, and speaking of which, chapter 16 has officially gone in a new direction...so, with this change, it shouldn't be as long...so....it should be up pretty soon! As in, this weekend, if I don't get too distracted...which DOES happen...A LOT.
Sep 6, 2008
Hey! Guess what? I think I'm back on board! So, I started writing a Self Talk pertaining to Sibling Rivalry. Well, I ended up explaining to myself everything I needed to know about the story...well, it's not done, but I've already discovered tons of details that i'd made official in my head but didn't know it. So, now that most of the plot is in order (which really was the main problem before) I should be able to actually finish a chapter without worrying about things to happen later on...so, I hope I can get 16 completed soon. And I hope I haven't irritated too many of you by moving at llama-speed. Cheers! -Cat
Aug 26, 2008
Grrr. School started today...so, if I don't get around to reading your work right away, it's because I have an excessive amount of homework. I WILL read, though:)...k. That's it. Oh, and now I'll probably be able to post EVEN LESS--unless I come up with something worthy of your eyes in my Creative Writing class...hmmm. k, now that's REALLY it. :)
Aug 8, 2008
wow. okay. so...i just got into an argument with my characters(Ryan and Emma) in my head...that really hasn't happened before...i mean, they were, 'Ryan and Emma...my imagination people.' now it seems like they're more alive...freaky. well, talking to and arguing with your characters is a good thing, right? I heard Stephenie Meyer did it all the time...okay, i just had to say that...they made me REALLY ANGRY!!
Oh, and, one word: REV-EL-A-TION
Aug 4, 2008
*sigh* haha. okay, so I was just on MySpace and remembered one of SM's blogs...it said the page/word count of all the books so far(this was when BD was in rough-draft stage) she said she used Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font. So, of course, I had to go change my entire novel to that...now i'm sad...It chopped off like, thirty pages of my novel. *tear* I'm still above 100, though, so that's good. :) It just made me sad, though. *sigh* Time for a Sibling Rivalry revamp...haha. no pun intended.
Jul 31, 2008
YES!! It's officially August 1st. 12:38 AM. That means, exactly ONE DAY(that's 24 hours) from now, I'll be at Barnes & Noble, waiting in line for Breaking Dawn, or in the car reading Breaking Dawn!! :D *squeal*
Jul 20, 2008
Okay, so I FINALLY got some criticism on my novel...and guess what? I think I'm addicted. I WANT MORE!!!! Seriously, I want someone to really bash it and make me cry. I want it to be as good as possible, so MORE CRITICISM people!! I'd really appreciate it:) -Cat :p
Jul 20, 2008
