I woke early one morning and heard the Blackbird singing...
.A bit about me
I am 21 years old,
I live in a smallish town on the coast with my family.
I am fully blind having lost my sight in infancy.
I enjoy writing poetry and stories (which tend to end up being novels).
I am highly critical of my own work, but struggle to see where and how to improve it. All Criticism Is Welcome!
I dislike reading in braille, but if my computer reads to me I very much enjoy it, although I prefer hearing someone read it to me than a mechanical drone.
Books I enjoy include:
The Bible Genesis, The gospel according to John and Revelation (current favourites),
J R R Tolkien’s The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings,
C S Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia,
G K Chesterton’s The Man Who Was Thursday,
Andrew Norris’s Aquila, and Portal,
Thomas Hardy, Far from the maddening crowd.
Jack London’s White Fang,
John Wyndham, The Midwich Cuckoos.
Genre’s I like include:
Action and adventure,
Fantasy,
Science fiction,
Historical (particularly if it has something to do with England, South Africa or Israel/that part of the middle east if set when Israel hadn’t yet been restored),
Anything to do with assassins etc,
And more.
Things I don’t much like reading include:
Full on soppy romance as the main plot,
Swearing,
Crude humour,
Magic in most cases, but not all,
GLBT,
Text which relies on a picture that is not described (for obvious reasons),
Adult content, when to do with relationships and the like.
(Please note that this list does Not mean I won’t read things that do contain them.)
Music I like includes:
Phil Keaggy; Wind in the Wheat, Beyond Nature, Find me in these Fields, and more,
Bryn Haworth; Keep the faith, Pass it on, Slide don’t fret, Keep the ball rolling,
Second Chapter of Acts and a Band Called David on tour with Phil Keaggy; How the West was One,
Graham Kendrick; Fighter, Triumph in the Air,
Mary Mackey and the Genesis; (can’t currently name any albums),
Keith Green; So you want to go back to Egypt,
Barry Segal; Go through the gates,
Bach; Sheep may safely graze, and more,
Tunday; Identity,
Michael Card and John Michael Talbot; Brother to brother,
Switch foot; Hello Hurricane,
My hobbies include:
Going out with the vintage motorbike people,
Fishing,
Sailing,
Scuba diving,
Archery,
Writing (of course),
Busking on my cornet (when I have practiced and have time). For those who don’t know, busking is performing on the streets for money and a cornet is something like a trumpet, but different.
Feel free to ask me to read any of your work, but please note that I may not read it immediately due to generally being busy.
I am not likely to Fan anyone based on just one piece of writing. I prefer to see at least two different pieces so that I can see that the writing is what I like, not only a plot from one piece.
I would much appreciate it if you would return reading favours and give me feedback of any kind. Again All Criticism is Welcome!
