About the Author

I have been writing short stories since 1977 back in Jackson. Mississippi. At first, my Aunt Thelma J. Watson was an English teacher at Vicksburg High School and she had a profound influence on my writing in concert with my mother and her superb oratory skills and achievements. I realized at an early age that I had the ability to draw from line-of-sight. However it was not until much later in life that I enhanced my ability to write.  After years of denying this talent in exchange for pursuing more practical corporate endeavors, I realized after The Great Recession of 2008 that the only true talent I had beyond making money for others though the pressures of corporate life was my expression. It was the one and only thing that gave me true fulfillment beyond the scope of purchasing tangibles just to remain important in society. I had come to the realization that my age was a measure of my competency in the corporate world, but remained a non- factor in my creative life. My back-story is pretty simple, I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi during the Civil Rights Era until the late 1970's when I relocated to Anaheim, California. During that time I had written several short stories about life in the South from the perspective of those that were less fortunate than our upper-middle-class family. I began tearing up legions of stories in that I thought it was wrong to tell a story I had not lived. In retrospect their stories needed to be heard and I discovered upon moving to Southern, California.I attended Anaheim Union High School where the arts had more of a focus for me than sciences and mathematics. Afterwards, I joined the Marines and continued my writing in long-hand on notebooks that would be passed around from squad to squad and company-to-company. They were fascinated by my work, but as most writers do, I fell into a depression unsure that it was a viable means for a living afterwards.Upon leaving the Marines, I worked for a small entertainment company in Hollywood part-time and interned at KGFJ 1230AM Radio while attending the Columbia School of Broadcasting. After completion, I worked several jobs in media including KVCR-TV Channel 24, a PBS affiliate. At that point, I realized that media jobs do have their limitations in respect to creativity.Afterwards, I worked for a private-banking firm, then got into the field of information technology upon graduating from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in IT Management. Soon-after, I entered the MBA Program for International Business at Western International University where I discovered that through all of the career preparation and training an element in my life was unsatisfied, the ability to express myself.  Now in 2012, I have committed myself to writing and other artistic expression without the limitations of insecurity and doubt that robs so many talented artist.
