Read Requests - Please Read

Priority is given to those writers I already like on here and those who leave comments on my work. This does not include those who write "This was good" and try to pass it off as feedback. I put alot of effort into my comments so I expect at least a little bit of thought to be put into those I receive. Struggling? What did you like about it? Why? Do you like the plot? The characters? The structure? The dialogue?

If you want a comment quickly, read my work, leave a comment and then make the request on my profile for the piece of work you want me to read . If you just leave a request without having read anything then expect to wait until I can be bothered looking :oD

I will rarely read poetry, it's not that i don't like it I just don't quite get alot of the subtleties in poems and my feedback is very limited on the subject so it is probably a waste of time to ask.

More about me:

I have been writing in my spare time on and off for around 15 years. I have developed my writing continually and am always looking for more constructive advice to help me improve.

I am from Scotland (that bit of land attached to the North of England) and for those of you who have left me read requests - I will have a get there - eventually.

I am an avid reader and will always try to give useful feedback as I believe that flaming people is unhelpful and out of order. I am open to read requests and will generally get to you as soon as i can.

I tend to write military , sci-fi and comedy horror but have been playing with the idea of a fantasy novel. If you want to know more just ask. Thanks for reading.

I am currently reading:

The Demise of Hirkland Town by BUnique - The Demise of Hirkland Town is a horror story written from a young woman's perspective. It follows Alisa as her town is ravaged by the walking dead and I think the author is a little alarmed that I find the story so far amusing "and it shouldn't make me laugh because this is a HORROR/ZOMBIE novel." This is also a work in progress but flows well and the main character is a law unto herself. Well worth a read, remember to take the time to give feedback as this is another author who works hard and appreciates (and returns) all constructive feedback.

Riding With Boys by FrootLoop246 - Riding With Boys is the type of book genre I would normally avoid like the plague but this one hooked me in. Sophia, the main character, goes from one major bad decision to the next major bad decision with an entertaining mix of naivety and passivity. It was the writing style of this author that initially pulled me in to this story and now, I'm not ashamed to admit, I am looking forward to more. This author loves constructive feedback and is always willing to return the favour.

The Things He Shattered by Criss Sole - The Things He Shattered is the story of a young woman who has her life destroyed in a random encounter at a friend's home and goes on to detail her struggle to recover within an uncaring and indifferent healthcare system. It is based on the author's real experience and is well worth a read. The author loves to hear a wide variety of opinion on the novel and always returns the favour.

Billum by Cwester - Billum is about a Black-Clad army which terrorises the country and a young boy who refuses to run away then demanding that a stranger, who rescues him from drowning, teaches him to fight against the raiders. That is as far as I have gotten but this writer is one of the best I've found on Booksie for painting a scene within their writing, so it is well worth a place on my profile. This author loves to read so will often return any feedback.

Big Things Come in Small Packages by KM2 - Big Things Come in Small Packages is a horror story about a deserted town which houses a terrible secret. This novel has a great mix of humour, vivid descriptions, horror and more - it even comes with a little furry "good guy" who is named Fuzzy Wuzzy (my favourite character in this one) and communicates with chirps and by bouncing up and down. Well worth a read and this author is always happy to return the favour.

Anna's Attic by R A B Bradbury - Anna's Attic is a novel about a young girl who tries to break away from her rich parents to live her own life. She moves into her new home but little does she know there is something sinister lurking in the attic. A graphic tale of mental and physical torture, murder and fear. Well worth a read. This is another busy author who is happy to return any feedback received. Note: this novel is available only on BooksieSilk.
