UpComing Novel:

Summary :

The screams rang through the air as I laughed running down the pathway. Kids were filled with happiness and cheer. The wind was warm and brought the smell of popcorn to my senses. I could almost taste the fluffy snack melting on my tongue. I continued to run down the pathway even though my thighs ached; begging for mercy. I looked back and caught a glimpse of the perpetrators, he was close. I quickened my pace but there was no possible way to push my legs any harder. People glared at me as I tried not to bump into them. Cotton candy filled the atmosphere ahead of me as little children carried bags of the sugar; red balloons tied to their wrists. I searched for an escape route. There was no line for the haunted house and Jesse couldn't handle haunted houses. I quickly found my route and headed for the car jumping into the seat as I tried pulling down the metal bar a crossed my lap. Before I knew it there was a hand stopping my escape as Jesse hopped into the seat besides me wrapping his arm around me and kissing my cheek. I glared at him as he pulled the bar down locking us both in the amusement park ride.

"Now your trapped Odette." He motioned as the cart jerked forward, terror filled screams emanated from inside. I crossed my arms over my chest and let out a sigh of failure. I had lost. Jesse had beat me, he caught me before I reached 'wicked'. I smiled at him as he pulled the 'obey' hat of his head and threw it onto mine. His black hair was perfectly ruffled as my long blonde hair sat in a fit of knots. Jesse ran his fingers a long my cheek bone. His hand found it's way around mine as he searched for comfort. I knew he didn't like haunted houses, that's why I chose this ride.

"Good Luck." I mouthed as we entered into the darkness. Soon enough his lips were on mine and then as quickly as they were there, they were gone. I hid my smile in the darkness as I watched awkwardly all the exhibits that were following us. There was loud music and Jesse grabbed my hand a little tighter. A spider fell from the sky nearly hitting us as black lights lit up just the teeth. Soon enough the car was jerking around a corner. Water flowed around us as the track seemed to end. The car bounced over it and we continued on ramming straight into some doors. I glanced at Jesse out of the corner of my eye and he seemed to be taking this extremely well. I smiled, maybe he was finally starting to get over it.

As soon as the ride had started it was over and we were jumping out of the cart. As I stood up to step out of the car, my foot caught on the railing and I slowly began to teeter before actually falling. I jumped out of the cart and barley landed on my feet. My long blue skinny jeans lengthened my legs as the corner of my pants ripped.

"Are you okay?" Jesse asked as he grabbed my hand and helped me catch my balance. I shook my head yes as I laughed and started walking away. We slowly walked through the crowds as everybody quickly ran off to the next big ride. "What do you want to do next?"

"Well what is there that we haven't done?" I asked as I laced my arm into his as we passed a bunch of kids playing through the fountain as water sprayed everywhere. I dragged Jesse over to the rocks that were lining the water fountain. Jesse and I sat there watching the kids for a few minutes in silence.

"We should race the go-karts." I laughed as I searched through the water as kids ran and laugh, glancing at Jesse I had a brilliant idea. I kicked my shoes off, setting my converse on the ground next to where we were sitting. I quickly stood up and threw my phone in my shoes. Jesse watched me as confusion was clearly plastered a crossed his face. I looked at him with an expression to harvest his confusion and blow it all away. He smiled one of those half smiles and my heart fluttered in my chest. I turned to walk away as he grabbed my hand.

"Where are you going?" Jesse asked me without a hesitation. It was almost like he was afraid of me leaving.

"Letting my inner child out, why don't you become some fun and let yourself be a kid again." I screamed as I bolted towards the fountain. Water spouted everywhere wrapping itself around me. I continued to run through the water. Children screamed out loud as they ran in circles with their friends. I looked up towards the sky to see the water dancing like little fairies floating to work on whatever It was they did. I let myself smile as I couldn't wait for the next moment of water to splash against my skin.

A few moments later my feet weren't on the ground anymore and there were arms wrapped around me carrying me away. I screamed as I was dragged towards the entrance. I kicked and flailed but still there was no hope. Soon enough before I knew it we were stopped and my feet were back on solid ground.

"Sometimes your too childish." I glared at him and slapped his shoulder; sticking my tongue out in attempt to make sure he understood that yes I was childish and No I was no going to change. I think I'm perfect for what I am. Jesse looked at me and rubbed his arm pretending it hurt.

"How about we go ride the roller coasters next?" I asked as I watched his every move.

"Or we can go to the restaurant and get dinner." Jesse said as he reached over to grab my hand. I smiled at him and pulled my hand away looking at him watching his expression. A drink of scotch and a wonderful dinner with my favorite person. I thought about it for a few moments placing my hand on my chin to fake the enthused thinking. Jesse laughed at me as he folded his arms and leaned back. I glanced into his green eyes that made me weak in the knees. This was the man I'd been with for two years and he still made me feel like everything was perfect.

"I'd like that." I said looking into his eyes once more as I reached over and grabbed his hand.

"I'm sorry I wouldn't do that sort of thing with a bitch." Jesse said as his face went from happiness to a glare within seconds. My heart was racing; what was going on? I couldn't help but let a tear slip, the man I loved was calling me a bitch and getting ready to walk out. I shook my head and tried to hold back the tears. I grasped for his hands but slipped as he pulled himself away and stood up looking down on me.

"You ruined my life. You cheated on me and you broke a promise that I thought I could trust you!" Jesse screamed at me as he walked away storming before I could let the tears flutter free. I chocked on my words not even able to cry I was so shocked and heart broken.

...

My body flew up off the bed as a sputter of gasps escaped my lungs leaving me breathless. Tears were forming at the corner of my eyes as I realized I had another dream of my ex boyfriend Jesse.

"Odette, are you okay?" I heard a voice from the other side of the room that was owned by my sister Odelia. Soon enough she was over by my side with her hand on my back. Her arms wrapped around me as she tried to comforted me.

"Another dream about Jesse." I shouted as I placed my head into my hands and started to cry. I wasn't able to save my relationship with the love of my life and now I had lost him forever. Yet my love for him still burned like a flame. I couldn't stand to see him gone.
