Penny: Part One. Hoping to curb her addiction to blood...
I am an aspiring author from San Diego. I write Fantasy and Sci-Fi, and enjoy reading all things fiction. We get enough of reality in our daily lives, and I have difficulty finding non-fiction that grabs my attention. I have been writing since high-school, when I found I enjoyed it. It didn't hurt that my Creative Writing/English teacher encouraged me to write, saying she thought I was an excellent writer, and hoped I would continue. As a young child, I found I loved fantasy, but I enjoy all genres of fiction.
I have one paperback book available on Amazon titled: Less Mortal. It is the first of a completed trilogy involving immortals in a fantasy setting. I also have a book on Kindle titled: Legend of California Island. It is a story of a post-apocalyptic world where young denizens of a small, religious community set out to find if the fabled "California Island" truly exists. My favorite book is Les Miserables. I decided to read this monster of a novel after my dad said it was one of the best books he had ever read. The story still touches me to this day, and I can't imagine one would not want to be a better person after reading the book, especially the first chapters where we are given an example of humility, love, and selflessness throught the character of the priest.
I consider a good book to be one that entertains me, regardless of how critics feel about their writers. I love Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, Victor Hugo, and Alexandre Dumas, as well as modern authors who are often criticized, such as Stephen King, and Stephenie Meyer.
I feel that if I have entertained anyone through my writing, I have accomplished something.
