"I took the road less traveled and now I don't know where the hell I am."

Have had some freelance writing experience although I am an attorney by training.

My greatest influence has been Alice Walker and, more recently, Alice Sebold; although when I was a child, my oldest sister used to make me memorize Rudyard Kipling poems!  Also a fan of Marge Piercy, Stephen Crane and Maya Angelou.

Avid reader (aren't we all?).

Other favorite books:  "Assassination Vacation" by Sarah Vowell, "The Pilot's Wife" by Anita Shreve.

Have applied to three funded MFA in Creative Writing Programs (that offer literary non-fiction as a specialty).  I have a one in a million chance of getting in!  The "short" story "Losing the War at Home" was my application submission.

Love this site because I find that reading others work is inspiring my own efforts.

Going through a divorce, mother to two young boys.
