Words have fascinated me from the time I can remember.  And the people and the objects around me always appeared to be there for me to be fed to my imagination, and to be modified and to be made to do as the situation in my alternate reality demanded.  It was thus that I started creating stories, much before I could hold a pencil in my hands.

My first story was about a secret animal kingdom located inside a hollowed out mountain, and the inhabitants were my secret friends.  It thrilled me endlessly to imagine various events in that kingdom, their wars, natural calamities, celebrations, and so on.  I was three years old then, and my father, who noticed my preoccupation with my own thoughts, was not worried, though many thought I was a loner, and needed 'rehabilitation'.  Throughout the later years while I grappled with growth, adolescence and the usual teenage angst, compounded by an excessive imagination and a tendency to daydream, writing was what kept me grounded.

Even though stories were what came to me the easiest,  with me lacking in patience and tenacity, I ended up writing a lot of poetry.  It has only been for the last two years that I have actually started writing down a structured story.  It is a fantasy/science-fiction/adventure/philosophical novel and I've just finished two chapters of it so far.  I have been doing a lot of research on it, though, and I hope to complete it over next two to three years, given the present pace of things at work.  I lead a very hectic life, and have to really prioritize to take time out to write.

I read all the time, and I get ecstatic every time I find a new piece of literature which I enjoy reading.  Apart from the obvious pleasure in reading, it also makes me happy to know that there are other people out there who have a passion for writing, and that they do a great job at it.

I have read some really good pieces of work since I joined Booksie, and I am looking forward to reading more of it and sharing my own with my Booksie family.  I would appreciate feedback and constructive criticism from all of you and would be happy to do the same for others.
