Chapter 8

I watched her cry as she watched Richard, hoping she would call him back, forgive him, and her smile would be back, but I knew that just wouldn't happen even if I could make it.

"Rich" She called after him "I'm sorry" With that she turned away from the door and walked out of view of the door.

I saw Richard turn round and spoke quietly "She was worth rescuing, can you keep her safe, maybe you will have more luck"

"I will do my best" I replied and with that Richard walked out of the door and I walked over to Ellie in an attempt to comfort her.

She was crying sitting on the coffee table, with her back facing me. I went over and put my arms around her, just like I had when she was crying to the guitar; she had been through a lot. She stood up the moment my arms went round her, so I dropped my arms to my sides, thinking she didn't want comfort, just to have her come over and hug me properly. I may have only known her for less than an hour, and already I knew I would miss her if she left, and no one would be able to replace her. So I held her close and let her cry on me while whispering comfort into her ear and slowly stroking her hair.

"I'm sorry" She said after a while "I must be a right problem for you, forcing you to save me and then thanking you by crying on your shoulder"

"No, no, I'd be so pleased if you could stay, you don't know how much of a good difference you have made to me, honestly, apart from you being sad, I couldn't be happier that you are here, in my arms, with me"

"Badger was right when he said you had fallen for me, wasn't he?"

"Yes" I sighed

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" she questioned

"I didn't want to scare you, I was sure you didn't trust guys, judging by your reaction when I took your hand, and having you run, afraid of what I might do to you, wouldn't help stop Badger"

She was silent for a while then she spoke put quiet bluntly "What will you do to me if I stay?"

Surprised, I looked at her, and then thought before answering carefully "Teach you and anything else you might wish"

"No" she said quietly "What would you DO to me?"

"Nothing that you will protest about"

"That didn't really answer my question"

"Then what exactly is your question?"

"Would you...err...bed me?" I felt her squirm as she said that, I could tell that she was uncomfortable with that thought.

"Only...Only if you would let me" I answered slowly "I won't force you to do anything you don't do out of your own free will"

That satisfied her for now, but I could tell she would question me again before too long "And finally, Otter, what's your actual name?"

Chuckling at her question I grinned before answering "Jake, Jacob Settler. "Have I satisfied you yet, or are there more questions to come"

Half smiling back at me she answered "One more, where am I going to sleep?"

Smiling as her practical side stood out I answered "There is one bed and one sofa, which would her highness prefer?"

Grinning properly now she replied "Sofa is there a blanket I can have so I don't freeze though?"

"That's two questions" I said as I let go of her and went to my bedroom and searched the cupboard for my spare duvet. "There you go, goodnight" and I kissed her lightly on the cheek before heading into my bedroom as shutting the door.

"I have one more question" a voice said through the door, I had just taken my top off "Yes"

"Where's the bathroom" Opening the door I saw her jump back at the sight of me without before shutting her eyes "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you"

Smiling at her reaction to me minus my top I stepped forwards and hugged her pushing her against me "It's alright, the bathroom's through my bedroom I will show you" and then I let her go watching her face as she opened her eyes and laughing as she realised I was still topless and was about to take her through my bedroom. She was too easy to tease.

"Maybe once you get a top on?" She said hopefully

"I'm afraid that isn't happening, I sleep like this"

Watching the disappointment in her face she nodded and then said "Ok, then let's get this over and done with" and without another word said I lead her to the bathroom.

Once we got their I said "See it wasn't that bad"

"Yes, your right, it's just..."

"I know, don't worry, you can trust me"

She just nodded before stepping into the bathroom and shutting the door. I then turned and finished getting changed and tidying up while waiting for the bathroom.

After a few minutes she walked out wearing a short night dress and a small smile on her face, I couldn't help staring, her dress hung round her in a complimentary way, she was beautiful. "I...I...Where did you get those clothes from?" I finally settled with, I couldn't tell her she was beautiful.

She reached up round her neck and opened a locket she was wearing round her neck and said slowly "You know I said I got locked in a basement for three years, locked in there with me was an old magic book, I taught myself, and I've made this a storage case"

I was shocked, girls couldn't do magic, could they?

"I'm pretty sure you don't believe me, but I can prove it to you" and then she disappeared, that was one of the hardest things to do with magic, and she had done it, then from behind me she spoke "Believe me now?" She had managed to get to the door to the lounge without me noticing

"Yes, I do, but do you know what will happen to you if someone finds out?"

"Bit late, I've told you" and with that she left the door and headed for the sofa, shocked I went on autopilot and got ready for bed without thinking about it and then finally I said "Goodnight Ellie" and then I turned the light off.
