Darkened Prodigy
Chapter One: The Teacher of Nobility
Dunkan finished writing with the utmost neatness on his test. Neatness was not something he needed to practice for. It was in his mind to automatically do anything in a neat and graceful manner. It often sickened him, that he had to be in this school. He'd rather finish his four years of high school at home, being home schooled by his stupid father again. He got up walked to the teacher's desk and handed her the test. When she gave him permission to leave, he walked back to his desk and sat down. It was nearly fifteen minutes before everyone else was finished. Dunkan sighed and pushed his crystal white hair behind his ears.
“Alright. I have news. You'll all be listening, yes? Okay. I will no longer be your teacher. I'm retiring from old age. We Humans don't live as long as some of you creatures. Your new teacher should be here any minute. I want you all to welcome him with open arms. Ah! Speaking of which, here he comes so there I go.” The teacher left after handing the new teacher a clipboard. The new teacher stood in front of the classroom with a better than perfect posture.
“Hi guys! My name's Mr. Ash. I'm not very good at names, so bear with me for the next couple of weeks!” Any interest that Dunkan had got lost in the teacher's words. He was too happy to be in this world. Then Mr. Ash stared right into Dunkan's blood red eyes with his bright green eyes. For a minute, Dunkan thought he saw hatred in the teacher's eyes, but it was only for a second, so he wasn't sure.
For the rest of the class, Mr. Ash got to know the kids. Except for Dunkan, who refused to participate in anything that was a waste of his time, that included name games. Mr. Ash was having so much fun being a teacher, that he almost didn't hear the bell ring.
“Well, that's the end of the day. I'll see you all tomorrow!” Dunkan picked his things up in a graceful and patient manner, rather then the rush everyone else did. As usual, he was the last one out. “Have a good day Dunkan.”
“Hmph,” Dunkan said and walked out of the classroom. Mr. Ash stared after him and smiled a small smile.
“Your mission will follow a difficult path, young Lord.” Mr. Ash jumped and turned around and smiled at his faithful servant. He stared with his blood red eyes.
“I thought I would have been able to keep this a secret for a bit longer.” Mr. Ash sighed and ruffled his short dark slightly gray blue hair. Shayde bent over in a bow like gesture, causing his freakishly long, straight, blood red hair to be an inch away from his ankles. He stood up and stared him dead in the eyes. “But it appears I've been caught red handed. What are you doing here Shayde?” Shayde looked down and saw a hair on his butler pants. He bent down and picked it off.
“I am your servant. I will follow you wherever you go unless you wish for privacy. If your intention was to sneak away from me, that is impossible. I will always know where you are.”
“Aw! That's cute! I have my own stalker! But that's okay, I don't mind having a stalker. Especially if it's you!” Mr. Ash winked. Shayde just stood there, unblinking. He was used to his young Master behaving in such a way. “Loosen up every once in a while!”
“The car is running. We must be returning home, young Lord.” Mr. Ash smiled and walked out of the room. Shayde followed after him. Nearby teachers stared at Shayde. No one saw him enter the classroom. They didn't see him at all before. A few students were still inside gathering their belongings from their lockers. A student nearby approached Mr. Ash. Shayde darted his eyes over to her. Mr. Ash recognized her as a student of his. She was a Werewolf. The Werewolf held out her hand to Mr. Ash.
“I'd just like to say welcome. You seem like a fun guy. I just hope you are better than the last one. Well, my name is Lucy,” The Werewolf said. Mr. Ash took her hand and shook it. The Human held out her hand as well.
“Well, it's a pleasure to meet you. I hope I can meet everyone's expectations. You see, I'm rather new at this teaching thing. You're my very first class.” Lucy looked at her and then at the guy. At first, she thought he was a Vampire, due to his eyes, but then she knew he wasn't. When that happened, lust became a great desire in her body. This man was the most beautiful man she had ever seen.
“You're not a Vampire, yet you have bloody eyes.” Her words were quiet and confused. Without realizing what she was doing, she held out her hand to shake his. Shayde gripped her hand in a gentle manner and bent down to kiss the back of it gently. The sign of a gentleman.
“I am not a Vampire my dear. I am truly sorry my dear, but we must be going home.” Shayde released her hand and followed Mr. Ash down the hall.
“W-wait! What are you then? Blood Fairy? A Wizard of some sort? Part Dragon?” Mr. Ash laughed a little. Shayde turned around and gave a slight bow.
“My dear, I am merely a butler.” Lucy watched them go down the hall.
“Yeah, but you're not an ordinary one,” She whispered to herself.
Mr. Ash looked at Shayde. Blood Fairy was new. However, it was far from what he was. Shayde was a very peculiar being. Mr. Ash was pretty sure he was the only one that new who he was. It was only a couple of minutes before they reached the front of the school, where the car was parked. Shayde opened the passenger side door to the black Jaguar and bowed. Mr. Ash stepped in and put his seat-belt on. Shayde closed the door and walked to the driver's side. He got in and started it up.
The mansion was rather big and very tall. It was three stories high, but looked as tall as a skyscraper in NY, and was as big three football fields. It was not a normal mansion, no, it was oval shaped instead of a rectangle. It's outside appearance was noticeable. It was white with black trim and the style was a bit old fashioned. There were very tall and fat pillars that reached up to the roof of the building. Not even the fattest man alive was as fat as the pillars. There were six pillars, and they were lined up, three on each side of the front entrance. There were windows, but they were all covered in a heavy, long black drape.
In front of the mansion was a forestry that seemed wild if you were far away, or only took a glance, but it really wasn't. It was a forestry, that was already there, from mother nature, and it was never taken care of. For there was no need to. In the back, there was a massive garden of white roses surrounding a willow tree by a pond. There was a white metal bench for sitting right by the pond. It was one of those benches that didn't have a back.
Then there was the inside of the mansion, there was a read room, a massive library, a huge steel kitchen, a dining area, three bathrooms, seven bedrooms, a garage, a medical room, a waiting room when you first walk in, an exercise room, an attic, a basement with a laboratory, and then there is just a huge giant, white room with pillars in it. It is the young Lord's special room. It takes up the center of the house. When they got back from the school Mr. Ash went to the read room and read until it was dark out.
“Young Lord, you called for me?” Shayde asked while stepping out of the background behind Mr. Ash. Mr. Ash was sitting on the sofa, reading a book by firelight. Mr. Ash didn't look up from his book.
“Do we have any records on him?”
“By him, I assume you mean the Vampire Empress's child. Yes sir. Unfortunately, this is all there is, the child was born of Vampire Empress and male human. How the child was kept secret is unknown. Where the child has lived is unknown. I believe the child was with his mother for quite some time. I come to this decision by the fact that the boy was seen being transported to his father in a steel crate. The child's first appearance. Two years after that, he has appeared in school under the identity, Dunkan. No last name to keep his family name a secret. Many know of his existence as either real or legend. Few know he actually exists. Even fewer know what he looks like. That is all, young Lord.”
“Thank you Shayde, you may go.”
“Do you require anything before I tend to the garden, young Lord?”
“No, thank you Shayde, you may go.”
“As you wish, young Lord.” Shayde walked away after giving a slight bow. “Wait,” Shayde stopped and turned around.
“Yes, young Lord?”
“Will you, protect him as well?”
“If the young Lord wishes it of me.”
“No, I'm asking if you will protect him. Not my command, YOU.”
“Yes, young Lord.”
“Why?”
“He is special to the young Lord. That is all the reason I need to protect someone or something I have no personal knowledge with.”
“I see. So then, he wouldn't be your...” Mr. Ash turned around to face him. He left the rest of the sentence unspoken. Shayde stared at him with his blank stare.
“We have no relation.”
“Alright, you may go. Thank you Shayde.”
“Yes, young Lord,” Shayde said and bowed again and left. Mr. Ash turned back to reading his book. He found that he was almost done with it and it was getting to a really good part. His eyes seemed to widen and get closer to the book. In mere moments he was oblivious to his surroundings. Even when Shayde had finished working on the garden and came in to dust. Shayde looked at his young Lord and raised an eyebrow. His posture was slouching over the couch as he kept his wide-eyed gaze on the book's writing. He saw that his young Lord was still edging closer to the book. If he edged anymore, he would fall forward and hit the ground. Shayde walked toward him to snap him out of his entrancement when he did end up falling forward. Shayde moved fast to catch the shocked Mr. Ash. Mr. Ash looked up at Shayde and smiled. Shayde helped him up and released him.
“Thank you Shayde.”
“Yes, young Lord.”
“It seems I was too into my book.”
“Are you alright young Lord?”
“I'm fine Shayde. I'd like to be by myself in my special room. Please stay here and do whatever you want. I just want to be alone for a while. This book has... made me remember something.” Mr. Ash set the book on the end table and walked away. Shayde stared after him. He wanted to be by his side, but the young Lord requested privacy. So he would grant it. Shayde closed his eyes and bowed.
“Of course young Lord.”
