I stood looking in front of me but it was only darkness and curvy curly black trees that were very scary. It was daytime though. It wasn't very dark but it was still darker than in the light woods I was used to. I looked around. I thought I heard footsteps and turned behind me quickly looking towards my village. I stared. I stood there staring in silence. But there was no one. I heart was beating fast and I thought that I was caught crossing the gate. I then bent down so no one saw me and crawled into the deeper woods. I stood up again and looked at the tall trees with dark green leaves and dried black trunks. It was beautiful, but scary. A fly whizzed by my ear and I freaked out a little. Then I saw something to the right of my eye. It was a bright yellow mushroom that seemed to be glowing! I walked towards it and scanned its surface closely. It was amazing. It was like a light bulb! I wasfascinated by it.I saw a little twig that had fallen from a tree above me and grabbed it. I poked the mushroom gently with the twig and then thought about something. I wanted to eat it. This might've sounded weird but it looked like it would taste good. It probably wasn't a smart idea to eat it because it might be poisonous. I touched it with my finger and it felt soft. I poked it even harder with my finger nail and goo came out of it. It was sticky and yellow like some kind of fruit drink. I put my finger up to my nose. "Mmmmm!" I said aloud. It smelled really good. This was kind of awkward because I had never seen anywhere that a mushroom could smell good and glow. I made a decision to taste it. Turns out this was not a great decision after all... I stuck my pointer finger in my mouth and my tongue sizzled. I made a sour face and the next thing I knew was darkness...
I heard crickets and frogs in my ears. My eyes opened up slowly. I was on my back and facing up looking at leaves. I opened my eyes wide as they could go. I put my hands on the ground and sat myself up. I turned my head left and right looking around the darkness. "Oh no." It was night time. That means my village knew that I was missing. I knew exactly what happened and why I passed out but it wasn't completely crystal clear though. I had to think hard to remember it. "I ate something... a plant- wait no." I thought about it aloud. I whispered it though. It was very scary and quiet in the middle of the dark woods. It was almost completely pitch black. Not exactly though. "I ate, the mushroom!" "Then it made me sick and I passed out." I said. I stood up on my feet even though I was scared to even stand or move at first. I had nightmares every night of evil things in the woods. Like the Slenderman. I never believed in that myth, but now I was scared. It was a myth that the people in villages started. About a tall and skinny man who had no face and stalked children inthe dark woods. You had to find his eight notes. You couldn't look at him for too long or get too close or he kills you. But lets you go if you find his eight notes propped on trees and in dark tunnels. Like I said, I never believed in that stuff but at the same time now I was scared of him, and then again I wasn't worried. I was more worried about my mom finding out I was gone. What would the punishment be? Chopping off my finger? It had to be something bad like that. You're definitely NOT suppose to cross the gate. The mayor did it for us to be safe. But I should've thought about that before I crossed. "I was just so curiouse about it!" I noticed myself screaming. The frog and cricket noises stopped. I stared at nothing. I felt like somebody was watching me... I couldn't get scared though... not yet.
