I logged online and checked my messages; there was one that was from my pen pal in Wisconsin, and one that said “You’ve Won!” I checked up on what was happening with El.

Hey Sam! I’m doing great, thanks for asking! How are you?! I miss you! Are you coming down this summer? I hope so! What’s it like up there? I just heard this song that described you SO much! It’s called World Wide Web Girl! It’s by Toy-Box and it’s so cool! Oh, mom’s yelling at me to get off, e-mail back soon!
~El

I shook my head, silly, silly El. Still the song was good, I’ve heard it before, and I would answer her later. Right now I was curious to see what I “won”. I clicked on that message next.

Congratulations Samantha Mortenson! You’ve won a trip to be on the first season of Lost Island the new teen reality show! You should be getting a letter in the mail with more information soon! We hope you find all the arrangements to your satisfaction!

I could not believe this! So I did what I do best when I couldn’t believe something. I screamed.

“Sam?! Samie? What’s wrong?!” My twin sister came running up the stairs. “Samie! Tell me what’s wrong before you give me a heart attack! Oh wait, you already have!” Always the sarcastic one Dawn was.

“Island… Lost Island… Chosen… Oh My God!” Dawn looked at me like I was crazy and she looked at the e-mail. “Samie… oh my god, Samie you’re going to be on Lost Island!” She started spazzing out. “I have to tell everyone! Tina Martins will be SO jealous; she said that her dad could get her a spot on the show!” She logged off of my account, and signed on hers. She looked puzzled though when she saw her inbox and clicked on a certain message; she scanned it before collapsing… right on top of me.

“Get off me! Help! Help,” I yelled. Mom came running in the room and pulled Dawn off of me. She groaned, “Well, Sam when Dawn wakes up, I want you to give her this,” She handed me two big envelops, “One of them is yours.” She walked out of the room and I opened the one with my name on it.

Dear Samantha Mortenson,
We hope that you got our e-mail. If you haven’t it would be good for you to check your inbox. If you have then you’re already a step ahead. Now, here’s the information pack. Please turn the page for more information on the show, and the other contestants. All of the contestants parents have already been informed and have agreed.

Uncertainly I turned the page and read on. Mom already knows about this?

“What’s that?” I jumped, Dawn was looking at me. “It’s the LostIslandinfo packet.” She nodded and took hers. I looked back at the list; Dawn and I were going to be separated. The rest of the stuff was all about the show and forms for our parents to fill out. Also when we were leaving which was… THREE DAYS? I got up and ran around and started packing, I looked at the recommended list. “Mom! We need to go shopping!” I heard her laugh. “I already got it all!” “I want new shirts!” She laughed again. “Okay Samie! You can borrow my card!” I ran downstairs, shrugged on my jacket, and grabbed the credit card out of my moms outstretched hand, then took off out the door

--3 hours later—

“Thanks for picking me up mom! I’m going to go finish packing!” I ran upstairs and unpacked the stuff out of the bags I was carrying and packed them right back into the suit case.

“Samie, there’s someone on the phone for you!” I picked up the extension in the hallway. “Got it mom!” I called.

“Hello?” I asked, I hadn’t been expecting any calls.
“Hey, is this Samantha Mortenson?” A boy asked.
“I go by Sam or Samie, but yeah… who is this?”
“John Dare, they have the list of your team members’ names and phone numbers on one of the pages.”
“Well that sounds kinda stalkerish… oh well. I didn’t know that, I just freaked out when I saw that we’re leaving in three days.”
“Yeah… that kinda stressed me out.”
“Same here, just enough to send me screaming out the door and my mom to lend me her credit card. Yay!” I heard him laugh on the other end.
“Well, I’ll let you get back to your frantic packing, see you when I see you.” This time I laughed.
“Yeah, see you sometime or another.” I hung up and walked back to my room to start packing again.

“Hey, Samie! Who was that? Huh? Tell me! Please?!” Dawn yelled, running into the room. “Don’t make your brain explode Dawn, it was John Dare, he’s on my team for LostIsland.” I replied, still packing. “Really?! Awesome!” I nodded my head and she took off out of my room. I shook my head sadly.

--3 days later, at the airport—

I can’t believe I was finally here! My mom was fussing over me and Dawn when all of a sudden: “Dawn and Samantha Mortenson, you’re flight has arrived.” I blushed, it was so embarrassing to have my name called over the loud speaker, it’s like at school and you think you’re in trouble. Mom loaded us on the plane and all of our friends gave us good-bye, we’ll see you soon gifts to open on the plane and we walked on.

“Sam! Over here!” I heard, I saw a group of four sitting together, with a boy calling my name. “It’s John!” I walked up and sat next to him. “Finally good to meet you in person, since I think my mom was getting sick of you calling the house all the time.” He laughed. He looked cute, with long light brown hair, blue eyes, and dimples when he smiled. He was wearing a gray tee shirt with a white button up shirt over that and jeans.

“Hey, I’m Rose!” I turned and looked at a girl with short, red curly hair in a ponytail, and a camouflage shirt on with blue capri pants. She had freckles and really dark chocolate brown eyes.

“I’m Matt.” A boy with black hair, and bright green eyes said, he was really pale, and was wearing a basketball shirt and shorts.

“Hi, I’m Sam, or Samie, with one ‘M’.” I said still slightly blushing. “What’s with all the presents and everything? Is it your birthday?” Matt asked. I shook my head “My birthdays not for another three weeks. These are “good-bye, we’ll see you soon” present’s from my friends.” I grinned. “Go on! Open them!” Rose encouraged. I smiled and opened them. I got 10 c.d.’s from Sally; a teddy bear hold chocolates and a brownie cake from Sara; some posters and movies from Char, books and more c.d.’s from Katrina; pictures and a photo album from Molly; a bunch of candy, pop, and a glasses holder shaped like a deer from Harley; journals, pens, and an art kit from Julie; a lot of cute bags and clothes from Linda; 5 different sized sketch pads and digital camera from Sydney; a bunch of travel games, jewelry, mp3’s, more movies, more books, from Jess; and a laptop, and a bunch of food from mom, along with a bunch of clothes, jewelry, and knick-knacks from dad. Dawn gave me some necklaces, along with a big locket and some stuffed animals. “Nice stuff!” Rose said, John nodded, and Matt smiled at me and said “Looks like you have some nice friends.” I nodded and put all the stuff in a huge bag mom made me bring along “just in case”. I looked at the last package, it was from El. Inside there was card and a teddy bear holding a box of chocolates, she also had some postcards and paintings and drawings in there, she also snuck me a pair of slippers, sleeping mask, new robe, and a bag for my toothbrush, and floss and stuff.

“Okay everyone. Now buckle up, we’re coming to a landing.” I buckled up and finished packing the stuff. As we got out I couldn’t believe that three days ago I didn’t know that I would be coming here. It was beautiful. A guide came out and showed us to where we would be staying, there were five cabins in a semi circle around a smaller cabin and a huge fire pit, and each cabins had two big bedrooms with two beds in each, two desks, two dressers, two closets, two pantry’s, two bookcases, and two chests at the end of each bed. Each bed had a nightstand next to it with a small drawer, bookcase, and stand on it. Each room had their own bathroom, and a phone, there was quilts, rugs, thin blankets, and pillows in each of the closets. Each bathroom had a bathtub, and a shower. There was two small closets with hooks in them and shelves, and a medicine cabinet. In each cabin there was a living room and a kitchen joined together in the front of the house.

I unpacked my light and plugged it in on the nightstand; I put some sudoku, pens, pencils, a journal, and a small sketchbook in the drawer, some of my new books on the book shelf, and a porcelain angel doll on the stand, I also put my glasses holder, case, cleaner, and rag on the top too. I unpacked everything and set it up, I put the posters on the wall, along with the paintings and drawings too. I made my bed and set up some more dolls on the dresser. I put the food away in the kitchen and in the pantry. I hung up my clothes and put some in my dresser. When I was done with all the stuff in my room I went in the bathroom put away some towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the pantry. I put my toothbrush in the toothbrush holder and some soap on the soap holder. I put my brush, lotion, body wash, sunscreen, bug spray, comb, make-up, and body scrubber in my bathroom closet. I hung up my robe and put a small basket and garbage in there too. I went back in the room and hung all my jackets up in the closet on the hooks and put my shoes in there too. I finished setting up my stuffed animals and put my medicine in the medicine cabinet, along with some aloe and a first aid kit. Then I collapsed on my bed.

Someone knocked on the door and Rose let them in. I felt someone sit on the end of my bed. “Hey Sam, time to get up, we have to go meet Silver Cross.” John said, shaking me. I groaned and rolled over. “If you don’t get up we’ll be forced to carry you.” I opened my eyes and got slowly up. “Fine.” I grumbled, waling out of the cabin.

“Samie! Hey Samie, the cabin’s rock! Don’t they?” Dawn asked running up. I nodded and yawned. A woman walked out of the cabin in the middle. She had her blond hair up in a ponytail, and her brown eye sparkled. “Okay, now we’re going to give you guys a few days to get settled in, okay. After this, there’s going to be dinner and then you can all go to bed. First though, I want each of you to get to know each other.” We all introduced ourselves and then walked off to dinner. “Hey Samie, I wonder what we’re having for dinner?” J.J. asked, a.k.a. Jerome. “No idea, I’m wiped out though.” I replied. “Yeah, I can’t wait to go to sleep!” Kat agreed, a.k.a. Katherine. Lynn and Zoe nodded, and yawned at the same time.

Dinner was good, it was hamburgers, I’d had better, and smores for desert. There was also salad, and fruit, there was milk, water, or juice to drink. “Nice dinner.” Jake said John and Emma nodded and I was about to pass out. So tired! We walked back to the cabins but I wiped out in the sand and John and Matt carried me back to the cabin. I fell asleep before we were even half way back.
