Box of Curiousity

How many of us have those secret boxes inside of our mind - where we keep our deepest, darkest secrets or memories that haunt us (or maybe that we cherish)? Are those boxes only for us to see?

There exists a treasure box.

Locked deep within the crevices of my mind,

where it lays dormant.

Waiting eternally to be opened.

Too bad, it seems I've misplaced the key.

Don't give me that look,

I swear this is the first time that's happened.

"Why?" You say. Is that even appropriate to ask?

It's not as if I threw the key into a bottomless pit or swallowed it hole.

I lost it, and that's that.

Stop it. Stop with those detective looks and that smirk.

I lost it. If I say it, I mean it. That's just who I am.

Moving on, how was your day?

Reminescing over the box, huh?

Well, get over it. There's no opening it.

Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

So please, let's just have an enjoyable lunch.

UMMM! This is delicious.

Well atleast touch your food; it's getting cold.

If I were you, I'd be a lot better acting aloof about the key nonsense.

Fine, fine. You win. I have the key.

It's right here, always with me.

Let's insert it.

And it shows...

I told you. It's private.

For my eyes only.

And you've done it, you've opened up what's always been "my."

Time to die.
