Class had never seemed so noisy. Everything was loud, obnoxious.
The adrenaline rush before still hadn't worn off. Flippping over a piece of paper was enough to set me off. I was careful not to hit the paper too hard with my pencil.
I steadily put my pencil down and took deep breaths. I closed my eyes and tried to react but I was too tense.
The door closed and I immediately looked up. Just a student.
I was still in flight or fight mode when a scream sounded. No one else heard it. I asked to go to the restroom and left.
I went to the right as to that's where the scream sounded. Going up the stairs, my ears picked up my footsteps as a rhino.
Another scream. Same place. I quickened my pace. I took out the pen from my pocket. I rounded the corner and only a scary movie was playing. My shoulders relaxed and I sighed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly an arm behind me put me into a headlock. The pen still in hand, I jabbed it between his knuckles. He slightly loosened but not enough. I wrapped my leg behind his and hit him in the back of the knee making him lose his balance. I pushed his arm down and squeezed out.
I took off then jumped over the balcony with my knees bent to catch my fall. I hit the ground, winced, then ran.
A hail of gunfire had shards of glittering glass raining and innocent students scremaing and yelling after I had run out of the door. Two men followed me and sent bullets Matrix speed. My ears were ringing from all the guns popping.
Adrenaline had filled me again making me faster, stronger. A bullet hit my shoulder but adrenaline quickly numbed the pain.
Breathless and invincible, I ran.
