The Rising Empire

My name is Carlos Montez, I am 15 years old. I was abandoned by my parents when I was three and was adopted by Paul Tillman and Laura Tillman. If I die during this quest I want Paul and Laura to know that I am thankful of them for taking care of me and I am sorry for not always being a very good kid.

Bleh! Two whole hours of school left to go! School was so boring, especially Spanish class. My adoptive dad, Paul, was a Spanish teacher at a middle school. I'm in high school but Paul's Spanish vocabulary isn't limited to only middle school level. He goes beyond high school with Spanish. Considering he lived in Spain for almost seven years it kind of makes sense. So Paul and I have been speaking Spanish almost 24/7 ever since he adopted me from Mexico, which is where I was born.

The teacher was talking about the Inca Empire history and other random crap that I don't really find interesting. I was getting really sleepy and right when I was about to fall asleep the teacher called my name. My head shot straight up.

"Yes Ms. Guzman?" I asked nervously, hoping she didn't notice that I was about to sleep.

"Can you please answer the question on the board?" She asked me.

I looked at the board hoping that I was lucky and it was just a question about grammar or pronunciation. But OH NO, things always seem to turn out opposite of how I want them to turn out. The question was:

Why did the Inca Empire have human sacrifices?

Wow, I don't know how I was going to get out of this one! I was getting really nervous because I always say something stupid when I'm under pressure, and I knew the whole class was going to laugh at me. God, I hate school so much! But right at that moment something super lucky happened. RINGGG! RINGGG! RINGG! The alarm went off and I nearly jumped out of my seat.

"Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown" the intercom announced.

"Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown" it repeated.

"All student report to the nearest classroom immediately. This is not a drill. All student report to the nearest classroom immediately. This is not a drill." It announced very loudly.

"Okay everybody get down under your tables." Ms. Gomez ordered. But most of us were already way ahead of her.

After almost 2 minutes Ms. Gomez announced that she searched what was happening on her phone and it said that the Museum of World History was broken into by a lot of people, and they had weapons. Our classroom happened to be right across the street from the museum and we could see it from the windows.

"I will give you a referral if anyone sticks their head above the table to look out the window." Ms. Gomez said very seriously.

I definitely heard her, but I couldn't resist my own curiosity and I stuck my head up to see what was happening. The whole class gasped when I did.

"Wait what? What happe--- Oh my god Carlos didn't you hear what I just said? Put your head back under the table immediately!" She shouted angrily at me.

I ignored her and it was definitely worth it. While looking out the window I saw about 10 men or women, I couldn't really tell, that were running away from the museum. They were wearing strange clothes and some of them were missing some clothing. I think I saw one with a mini skirt on, and it was a man, no question about it.

"Okay I'm writing your referral right now!" Ms. Gomez said.

Oh crap! I slid back under the desk and sat there for the whole day just texting my friends that were sitting in other classes.

NOTE FROM AUTHOR: I got this idea from the Percy Jackson series and it is going to be similar but dont worry I will change it up a lot. If you guys enjoyed this and want to see more dont hesitate to let me know :)
