Born and raised in Arkansas spending most of my youth hunting and fishing. Attended Ouchita University for two years until the University agreed with me that I wasn't ready for college. In 1977 decided to see the world and enlisted in the United States Navy.
While serving in the Navy I was stationed on 6 ships. Three on the west coast and three on the east coast with a three year recruiting duty assignment sandwiched in between in Alabama.
In 1980 sailed from San Diego on board the U.S.S. John Paul Jones DDG 32 and assigned Carrier escort duty in the Arabian Sea during the Iranian hostage crisis. In 1986 on board the U.S.S. Talbot FFG 4 I sailed from Mayport Florida assigned duties of escorting Kuwaiti merchant ships through the Straits of Hormuz and patrolling in the Arabian Sea completing a circle that reached around the world.
Retiring in 1995 and settling down as a Harley-Davidson salesman back in Arkansas I decided that although I was never involved in actual combat I did have a multitude of experiences that maybe someone would enjoy hearing about.
