Grandpa Joe came over for a visit one evening. When he arrived at the front door Cody noticed that he had a great big bag with him. "Do you have something for me Grandpa," cried Cody.
"Come closer so I can show you what's in my bag," said Grandpa Joe, as he sat down on the couch.
Cody hurried over to see what was in the big bag. "What's that peeking from behind your ear," said Grandpa Joe. He reached behind Cody's ear and pulled out a shiny new coin. Cody's eyes lit up when Grandpa handed him the shiny coin.
"It's magic," cried Cody.
"Yes it is," said Grandpa Joe, smiling.
"Make more magic Grandpa," cried Cody, jumping up and down. Then Grandpa Joe pulled a long black wand from his big bag, said the magic words out loud, ABRACADABRA!! And the long black stick turned into beautiful flowers.
"WOW!" said Cody, with gleaming eyes.
Grandpa Joe shared other magic tricks with Cody, three magic rings and the magic floating handkerchief. He also showed Cody his magic handcuff trick. "Is that all Grandpa," asked Cody.
"No, I saved the best magic trick for last."
Then he reached into his bag. "It's not here," said Grandpa Joe.
"What's not there?" asked Cody, peering into the big bag.
"The thing I need for the last magic trick," Grandpa said with a sad face. "I'm sorry Cody without the magic hat I can't show you the trick."
"Could you use another magic hat," asked Cody.
"I sure could," answered Grandpa Joe with a smile.
Surely the Magic Hat Closet had a hat for Grandpa's trick, thought Cody. He hurried down the hall to see the Magic Hat Closet. As he reached the middle of the hallway, the floor began to trembled under Cody's feet! Big long leafy vines grew up from the floor and then slowly the Magic Hat Closet sprouted up like a huge bean stalk!
Cody stood smiling as he watched the closet grow up to the ceiling. When the closet stopped growing, he walked over and then placed his little paws on the door and whispered, Magic Closet give to me the hat of the one I wish to be.
The Magic Closet creep open. Hundreds of hats were whirling and twirling around in the air above Cody's fuzzy head. Then a burst of glittering lights filled the air as a single hat floated softly down at Cody's feet. He placed the hat on his head, while gently shutting the closet door. The Magic Closet slowly disappeared down into the floor as Cody hurried down the hall to show Grandpa Joe the hat that was given to him.
"See Grandpa, I have a magic hat," said Cody, with a big smile.
"Yes! You have a magician's hat," said Grandpa Joe, with amazement.
Cody took the new magician's hat off of his head, reached into the hat and pulled out a baby bunny.
Hi, it's me Cody!
In this story my Grandpa Joe showed me how to do, Magic! He pulled a coin from my ear and then turned a magic wand into flowers. I think magic is so much fun! When I asked the Magic Hat Closet to give me a hat, a magician's hat magically fell to the closet floor.
Wow! It sure was exciting to play magician with Grandpa Joe.
