We usually play street cricket
On the busy streets of our homes
With uncles and aunties
And all the neighbouring kids
There would be no umpires
Nor any spectators
But we would play on
Till the sun goes down!
Hitting the terrace would be a six,
Pammi aunties home would be a four
But we would really badly get out
If we hit the nearby store!
Breaking a window would be a two
But you never know what the neighbour would do!
And hitting the dog would be a one
It would bark, but it would still be fun!
There would be no wides and no no-balls
Except for when the tennis ball is bounced
And grandpa has a fall!
There would be no disputes over run outs
Because we would never run fast
We would never get out!
But after all we still love the game
Though it brings us neither money nor fame!
We love street cricket
And it’s totally an amusing game!
