I primarily write for children at littlechildrensbookclub.com so thought I might post a few of my poems on here to gauge response. This first one is simply about fairies, being English, fairies are a rich part of our folklore and I write about them quite a lot.

Butterflies and Fairies

I thought I saw a butterfly

land by our garden pond,

but I had never seen a butterfly

With a magic wand!

It seems it was a fairy

dressed in lavender and pink,

and feeling rather thirsty,

had stopped by for a drink.

"Do you care for some tea," I asked,

while she chatted to the fishes?

"Perhaps another time," she said,

"when I'm not busy making wishes."

"But, thank you for your kindness,

can't stop: must go! Goodbye!"

Like a bubble popping, vanished,

in the blinking of an eye.
