Oh! big old tamarind tree

Oh! big old tamarind tree,

You gave us shelter,

During summer and winter;

Even when we called you "bitter"

Oh! big old tamarind tree,

On your branches we played;

We are sad to see you slayed;

Now, you are parched and frayed.

Oh! big old tamarind tree,

You were so kind;

We shall never find

Another tree so kind.

Oh! big old tamarind tree!
