THE SNOW CREATURE MYSTERY

Hey Tommy when you get bored of trying to drown Sammy. Why don’t you climb aboard and I’ll teach you how to use the spare rod that you’ve been pestering me about Vicky’s aunt Lucy cried out from the side of the ship’s railing

Oh cool! Be right up! Tommy Cub answered back happily then began swimming back towards the ships ladder

Once on board Lucy helped Tommy out of his swim suit then held up a long metal rod and asked him

Do you know what this is?

A long pole to help pull Sammy out from the bottom of the ocean after his floaters deflate? Tommy shrugged

Your sense of humor needs lots of work Thomas, Lucy groaned now pay attention first you wrap your paw around the middle of it like this. Then you gently raise it over your shoulder, aim and throw. Here now you try Lucy smiled. Tommy took a deep breath before he pulled his arm back and threw it with all his strength

Ouch! My paw! You just hit my paw!

Both Tommy and Lucy ran over towards the side and looked over it and saw Sammy Turtle. Holding the rod that Tommy just threw in his hand

Looking for something? Sammy asked with a big grin on his face

Dude! That wasn’t at all funny! Tommy growled what if I really would’ve hit you with the stupid thing

Oh please we all know that there was a better chance of your target hitting you then you hitting it! Daisy Penguin interrupted laughing

Okay kids! Why don’t you go to your rooms and change then we’ll meet back in the lunch hall. And I’ll tell you about the adventure we’re about to go on Lucy told them

A few minutes later they were down inside the lunch hall munching on pizza nuggets

Okay first I’d like to thank all of you for joining me on this trip Lucy began

Any time Aunt Lucy we were happy that you asked us to come Vicky Dragonfly smiled so what kina of adventure are we going to go on

Well Vicky this will be more like a favor then an adventure

Huh? What you mean favor? Vicky interrupted. Vicky’s aunt laughed then continued

Well you see I’d like to hire you kids in helping me solve the mystery of a snow creature

Snow creature? Wow! You mean they really exist? I always thought they were just made up urban legends Daisy asked frowning

Possible Daisy but to the town of Frozen Cube this creature is very much real. And they’ve asked my office if I’d help in proving if he does or is he just a legend. Passed down from generation to generation Lucy answered

Why are they so interested in finding out if this creature does or doesn’t exist? Sammy asked

Well besides of knowing for sure of his true existence legend also has it that. This snow creature protects a cave full of hidden treasures

Oh wow! We’re going to be rich! Both Sammy and Tommy started to cry out

Now, now boys let’s not get ahead of ourselves let’s see if we can find it first! Lucy laughed

Oh wow! But I didn’t think that a scientist like you would be interested in debunking urban legends Puppy asked her

Yes Puppy I normally don’t go on wild goose chases. But after doing some research on it myself. It’d be such a wonderful discovery if we could actually find some kina of proof that this snow creature is more than just. A legend Lucy answered now tomorrow we’re going to take a plane into town she began to add

Why don’t we just take the boat? Sammy asked frowning

Cause the town of Frozen Cube is a real small town and the only way that you can get in or out is by plane. But don’t worry Sammy you’ll have so much fun on this adventure that you won’t even miss not being on the boat! Lucy laughed

The next morning the gang landed inside the Frozen Cube airport

Okay kids why don’t you go and get our bags, while I try to find Mr. Bear he’s going to be our guide on this trip. And then we’ll grab something to eat before heading out to the----

Ah! You must be the party of adventures that I’ve been waiting for! A loud voice from behind them interrupted

And you must be Mr. Bear, I’m Lucy Dragonfly it’s nice to meet you

Then after picking up their bags they head out to airport’s restaurant

So Mr. Bear have you ever seen the snow creature? Puppy asked him as they waited for their food

No I’ve always been too afraid to search for it myself especially after all the stories told to me about its legend. And even though I’m grateful to you in helping me with this search, I’m still a bit unconformable he answered her

What kina of stories? Tommy asked

A couple weeks ago a news reporter and his friend came to our town, to do a story about the snow creature and –

And? Tommy asked frowning after a few seconds of silence

And they simply vanished into thin air Mr. Bear shrugged

Oh that’s impossible! They probably couldn’t find anything to report and went back home. There’s no way that they just vanished without any explanation Lucy frowned

I certain hope that you’re right Mr. Bear mumbled

How much farther is it? I don’t feel my toes anymore they must’ve frozen off or something. It must be 200 – one out here Tommy whined

Actually you put the minus before the number Daisy smirked

Oh wow! Thank you so much for that weather corrections, what would I ever do without your help Tommy smirked back

Okay kids settle down I know that it’s cold out here, but we should be reaching our cabin pretty soon Lucy interrupted I can taste the hot coco as we speak she added laughing

Later on that night while Lucy was in the kitchen, making their hot coco. The gang was inside the living room playing a game of clue

Okay it’s was Miss Blue in the bed room with the baseball bat! Sammy cried out

Sorry dude but you’re so---

Hey did you guys just hear that? Daisy interrupted

No what?

Shh listen it sounded like its coming from outside she answered

Umm maybe we should tell Lucy what you heard Sammy told them

Nah! We’ll just take a quick look around and be back before she even noticed, that we were gone Tommy answered as he started to put on his coat

They were just about to head towards the back of their cabin when they had to suddenly jump back. As soon as they noticed that Mr. Bear was taking off on their snow mobile

Hey! Stop! Where are you going? You just can’t leave us out here! Tommy yelled before he started to chase after it along with the rest of the gang. They chased the mobile until they couldn’t run anymore

Oh great! Now what are we going to do? Daisy panted there’s no way we could ever catch up

Umm I think we’ve a bigger problem than to catch up Sammy answered her

Like what Sammy? What can be worst then being stuck out here without no way back? Tommy frowned

Well Mr. Great if you can tell us how to get back to the cabin. It would be wonderful cause all I see is snow and ice cave

Sammy frowned at him back

Why don’t we just retrace our prints?

They tried following their tracks but they didn’t get very far

Umm I hate to burst any ones bubble, but I don’t think this is working. I think we’re just walking round in circles Sammy whined

I hate to agree with him but I’ve a funny feeling that we’re just walking farther away from the cabin Vicky added

Why don’t we just turn around and take shelter inside that cave, we saw and take it from there Puppy suggested

A few minutes later they were gathered inside the cave. Puppy was about to tell the gang something when Vicky suddenly cried out

Aunt Lucy!

Oh thank god! I’ve been looking for you kids all over the place. I was so worried what in the world were you kids doing out here all alone? Lucy asked

Aunt Lucy! Mr. Bear! He just took off with our snow mobile we tried to chase him as far as we could and then we couldn’t find our way back Vicky began

I can’t believe it! I just can’t believe that he would do something as this just wait until we get back into town. I’m going to make sure he’s punished for his action her aunt interrupted

Umm shouldn’t we figure a way how to get back first Vicky asked

Oh you kids didn’t wander as far as you think just a mile or two away from the cabin. And don’t worry as soon as we get back to the cabin I’ll just radio into town and hopefully, we’ll be back no later then tomorrow afternoon

A few days later they were sitting on the upper deck of Lucy’s ship

Wow! I never thought I’d be so happy to be back on board again I don’t think I want to see snow for a very long time Daisy was telling the gang

Yah but I feel bad about not having---

Kids! Can you all please come down to the lunch hall I’ve some exciting news to share! Lucy interrupted Vicky

They quickly gathered inside

What’s up Aunt Lucy? Vicky asked

Well I’m sure that you’re all glad to be back on the boat again, we should be getting back home in a few hours. But before reaching shore I’d like to thank you kids again for coming with me Lucy began

It was fun but we weren’t much help in solving the mystery of the snow creature Puppy answered

Yah the only thing we did was get standard and taken Daisy added frowning

Well don’t be so hard on yourselves I’m sure you’ll all cheer up after I tell you. The rest of my news the police found Mr. Bear. A few miles away inside one of the ice cave along with his friend frozen solid Lucy began

What!

According to the police Mr. Bear has been robbing jewelry stores and banks, and hiding them inside that cave until they knew it was safe to ship them out. He and his partner have been feeding the town with gossip of tale tall of the snow creature as a cover up. They believe it was his partner who called my office and lead us on this wild goose chase so no one would get wind of what was really going on

Wow! What a scam artist! I can’t believe he’d be so mean and do something so awful like that Vicky frowned

Just to show you sometimes you really can’t trust a person’s story at face value. Even if you’d like to but don’t worry Vicky sooner or later criminals like Mr. Bear always get caught no matter how many times they get away with it in the beginning Lucy smiled

So the whole thing was just a scam? There was never any such thing as a snow creature? Puppy asked

We’ll never know since the only one who could’ve told us is gone Lucy shrugged but the weird part is the weather hasn’t been cold enough to have frozen him like. They claim and not only that they also claim that he had this strange look on his face, like he was about to scream or something close to it but he didn’t have time. He was scared to death

Oh wow! Maybe the legend of the snow creature does exist! Vicky cried out

Maybe just like maybe some legend were not made to be known just left as they are. Now who wants to help me make my world famous brownies! A special treat well deserved! Lucy laughed
