CRACK!

The loud noise heralded the arrival of Poochi[translated - Insect]. His mother led the fluid-covered newborn to the edge of a leaf and pointed to the sky.

"Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz". A thousand butterflies were flitting around.

Poochi's jaw dropped at the spectacular hues which filled his first-ever vision.

"You see that?", said Poochi's mother. "That is how I want you to be when you grow up. Beautiful and vibrant. Delicate and fascinating. A delight to the eyes."

Poochi took his mother's words to heart and from that moment on devoted himself to becoming the best butterfly in the forest. But no matter how hard he tried, there was always a butterfly better than him.

Poochi was proud of his vivid yellow and black colour, but the Morpho butterfly was more renowned in the forest for his unmatcheable metallic blue and green.

Poochi had distinct tiger stripes, like all Tiger Swallowtail butterflies, but the Monarch and Lacewing butterflies had patterns more striking than his.

Poochi exercised hard and maintained a fit physique, but he could not achieve the seemingly weightless and effortless flutter of the Glasswing butterfly

Poochi tried harder and harder to be the best butterfly in the forest but somehow he never got any nearer to his goal. Disheartened, he lost all interest in life and went to the forest lake to drown himself.

An old fly who was sitting nearby, sucking on a ripe mango, noticed the dejected look on his face and asked him, "What's wrong, kid?"

Poochi replied, "I am not fit for living, I am going to end my life."

The fly quizzed, "Really? Why?"

Poochi said, "No matter how hard i try, I just can't be the best butterfly in the forest. There is always a better butterfly than me"

The fly spat out a mango fiber and said, "Well, I am not surprised you aren't the best butterfly in the forest. That's coz' you are a BEE, my dear friend"
