Kiko and Twitch
There were once two wise friends known as Kiko and twitch. They lived together in perfect harmony and did't question why they were different in the way they looked.
Kiko didn't mind that Twitch had the ears of a rabbit, and Twitch didn't mind that Kiko had the ears of a fox. They were true friends, no doubt about it.
But one day, Kiko began to question their friendship when she noticed Twitch was looking at something else other than her. It was much bigger than her too.
"Why do you stare at that all night? Why not at me?" She asked one clear skied noon.
"It's far more beautiful..." He replied, grinning up to the bright being.
Kiko frowned, looked up at what he spoke of and pouted.
"But it does not smile, speak, give you hugs or promise you things." She whispered, still bemused by the idea that it was more beautiful than her.
"No, but without it, I would be lost, as would you."
"How?" She frowned.
Twitch shuffled slightly to sit behind her before quickly placing his hands over her eyes. Everything went dark. Kiko grew more confused.
"You see, the moon is like a giant nightlight. Without it, you would not be able to see much...And sometimes, not at all." Twitch giggled, pulling himself back to his side.
Kiko swatted his hands away, before blinking up to the moon.
"did you call it that? And how is the moon when it leaves, like your hands over my eyes?"
"No, I heard my father call it that. And the moon doesn't leave, clouds hide it."
"Oh...Clouds at night?"
"Yes, sometimes, there aren't any. But you see them move in the sky when there are. they're dark, so sometimes you have to squint to see them."
Kiko squinted her eyes until they were nearly shut. Twitch laughed until an odd red shaded his cheeks.
"Kiko?" He hushed.
"Yes, Twitch?" Kiko's attention was hastily taken.
"I lied about what I said before...About the moon being so beautiful."
"You did? Well then I'm telling! You shouldn't lie, it's naughty!" She flared up, tutting away with a wagging finger. As she stood herself up to run and tell, Twitch hastily grabbed ahold of her arm.
"No, listen! I...I think you're more beautiful. And I can't look at you for too long, because I think I would just cry. So I look at the moon."
Kiko smiled contently, throwing herself onto Twitch before wrapping her arms about his neck.
"Twitch, I forgive you...But I'm still telling..."
