Sierra, the goldfish could not sleep that night. She pretended to snore! No, she thought! She could not sleep! How could she?
It was all because she knew a secret. It was a terrible secret that she did not want anyone to know. For the hundredth time she was thinking about what might happen if her parents or the other fishes found out. She crept slowly out of bed and swam out. She could feel the waves rushing at the top of the sea. She met her friend, the crab Nevada who winked at her as she swam by. "Hey Sierra!", Nevada shouted. But Sierra would not stop. She kept swimming until she reached a place in the sea where she could shout out her secret. She wanted to shout it out. She could not keep it in her heart and hide it from everyone. She finished shouting the secret out breathing heavily. Then she went back home and slept.
In the morning Sierra woke up to the blue ocean watching the sun rays reflecting. She reached school late. She went straight to her teacher. "Miss Honey!" She cried. "What is it dear?" asked Miss Honey rather surprised. "That secret you told me!" Sierra gasped. "I hid it from everyone. I never told it! That secret drove me mad."
Miss Honey smiled and told her "Sierra you should never hide your secrets from your parents. Always tell them. Or else you will suffer guiltiness." "I will remember that from next time, Miss Honey" Sierra said," I will tell them today. I learned a big lesson!" And Sierra told her parents the dreadful secret. To her surprise they frowned and said. "Oh! You will certainly do better the next time!". Sierra had failed the test she had written. That was the dreadful secret...
