SCOTTY SEES A BUTTERFLY TREE
Scotty put his paws under his chin and relaxed on the pillow.
This long drive to the new house was really taking a long time. It was not a lot of fun for a full grown black cat to be sitting this long in one place.
Finally, it was quiet. The twin girls, Taylor and Teresa, were both sound asleep. Scotty was happy to have the girls pet him and rub his neck. He did not like having his tail pulled or his whiskers touched.
He was not in the least little bit SLEEPY.
Even his beloved mistress, Diane, was dozing in the front seat.
Scotty was glad that Frank the Man was driving the car. Frank was a very good driver.
This part of the place called TEXAS was very flat. He had seen not a single hill all day long.
He hoped they would stop soon and let him out on his leash so he could take care of his need to find a safe place to tinkle.
Finally, he saw one of those places called a REST STOP.
He didn’t know why they called it that. He just knew it meant he could take care of his tinkle business and maybe Diane would open a can of TUNA for him.
The girls were shouting and running around in circles.
Scotty wished they would just sit down and behave themselves.
He saw a dog get out of a car nearby. Thank goodness, it was only a puppy.
Then he saw IT!!!
The beautiful BUTTERFLY TREE at the edge of the REST STOP.
It was moving. Yes, really moving with the wings of a million butterflies.
The YELLOW and BLACK colors were so inviting.
The entire family moved closer to the tree.
Scotty knew the tree was a MAGIC tree.
He knew the million butterflies all danced under the spell of the Mother Tree WITCH.
Scotty tried to warn his family by running under their legs to stop them.
They just ignored him!
His only remaining trick was to howl and hold up his paw like he had been hurt very badly.
Thank Goodness!
They all stopped and took him back to the car. Then they decided to get back on the road.
As they drove away, Scotty could see the tree moving in the distance.
It was a very CLOSE CALL!
