Voices from Elsewhere

Poetry By: donkylemore

Why do we awaken from a problem afresh ; see the thing more clearly
What is that ''voice'' that brings clarity and sometimes comfort ??

Who called my mind when I could not sleep
Nor rest nor respite could I find
Lying in the dark of night so deep
Listening for the voice that sought my mind

And when sleep came at last
Hurried on by hypnotic pills
Behind some screen , maybe voices from my past
Who now dare speak of frailty and human ills

Of the folly of our greed
And the foolishness of pride.
Do we pay insufficient heed
To the watchful hand that guides

To hear the wisdom of those souls
Who speak in whispers from out the night
To heed The Hand that us controls
In that dark hour 'fore dawn yields new light

Who calls us from beyond this place
To show the way after sleeping on our woes
And set them aside and them encase
And makes a fortress door upon them close
.

Listen to the voices calling from across divide of time
Hear their words in dreams or in full alert
Hear them ring in wise majestic chime
And let your restless soul find sleep and rest in their concert .
