The Day You Left

How I felt the day I almost lost some-one extremely special to me.

I get shivers down my spine,

Every time I hear footsteps decline,

Down those steps.

Thud.

Time stood still,

that day you took my heart with you.

Music filled my ears,

And I knew you were near,

And all the tears I cried

Disappeared,

If only Id' realised,

What they'd be replaced with.

When people live in a house,

Sing in a house, Dine in a house,

Sleep in a house,

It forgets what emptiness feels like.

But it will always remember,

After that final thud,

When the door swings shut,

With the house behind it,

Feeling more hollow than before,

Left with whatever rose- tinted beauty it has,

To run derelict.

It all broke down on those steps,

With that final thud.
