When lustful or vengeful thoughts creep into our minds, we might lash out at people. We might say things we normally might not say. We could say something mean or hurtful we could actually lose a friend over thoughts that have just turned into words. We can rely on God's word to clean up our thinking, and it might just keep our tonge in check, but we must repeat the process often. Satan, afterall is pretty good at planting bad thoughts in our heads.
We need to have the right words to encourage people, sometimes correct people, and maybe once in a while point out their sins. Having the right words makes this more comfortable. Words come in the form of relief, or crushing and hurtful. Saying a word can be like a punch in the belly or comforting like a snuggely Teddy Bear.
Habits are easy to start and extremely hard to break. So if your going to make a habit let it be a good one.
Habits like biting nail, watching too much TV, eating too much, staying up late, or even just twisting your hair are bad habits. Maybe we should try to replace them with Habits like Devotions, meditation, reading the Bible, and prayer.
If you have formed good habits, your well on your way to having good character. Our Character rubs off on the people we are around, and that means good or bad character. So, we must be careful. Our Character is a total of all we talked about our thoughts, our words, and our deeds. The character you build for yourself, will shape and form your destiny. And when you think about it, that really is the end of the story. Just remember what we really are working for is to spend eternity with God.
