August-Sorry For Delay, But We're Back

Ryan, Ethan and I had great enjoyment these past few months working on the June issue of DOSZE. Unfortunately, due to complications, we were unable to produce the July issue, so the stuff we planned for the July edition will instead be on August. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our fans. Also, we would love it if you could come and check out our DOSZE Podcasts.

Zombie Tip Of The Month

Do not turn around corners; making such a noise that has the possibility of a zombie locating your whereabouts becomes inevitable. This may likely cause death, in the worst possible way.

Ryan's Corner

I'm Hungry

I'm hungry so why don't I get up and get some food? Well that's because it's an Apocalypse. I need to save food for those who need it most in the group like children and the sick people. When I'm hungry I will kill for food, without worrying about whether it is an Apocalypse or not. Before my segment is over I must ask the audience a question: What food would you miss the most in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Questions For The Creators

Each month we ask the fans to give us questions and we will happily answer them. We also come up with our own questions, just as it may be a question that needs addressing that we haven't got around to.

What Tinned Food would be your favourite to eat in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Shane: Peas & Corn

Ryan: Tactical Bacon

Ethan: Sardines

What country would you never go to in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Shane: Africa

Ryan: Madagascar

Ethan: United States Of America

What type of clothes would you wear in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Shane: Light but durable clothing

Ryan: Regular clothes. Who gives a fuck, right?

Ethan: Gilly Suit (Sniper Suit)

Question from mk1223: My question for you is are the Zombies in our Apocalypse going to be slow and fairly easy to handle or will they be like in my favourite zombie movie 28 days later where they are fast and much more difficult to deal with? For this would greatly affect the way I would handle the entire situation. I know who I will be trying to locate when the Apocalypse does hit!

Shane: Thanks for the comment, km1223. Glad we'd be the ones you are searching for. In terms of the types of Zombies, it is hard to think of which type of Zombie that would be your typical Zombie to search. I believe that the default, regular walkers would be the ones to go for, as the whole Zombie genre began with these types of Zombies, and only moved onto the other types to create more buzz about the genre. Perhaps, I would say that some zombies (not all of them) may start to jog a bit faster at the scent of blood. Don't forget, a Zombie cannot control it's body movements and such, and the extent of the injuries received before death will still be around, meaning that most Zombies would find it really difficult to walk properly. Hope this answered your question.

Ryan: Runners, definitely.

Ethan: As Shane said, I think they'd be slow. It makes sense, doesn't it?

Movie Of The Month

Zombieland

Zombies Invade Booksie

This is the segment where we take a look at various content by fellow Zombie lovers. We had a lot of submissions for the first "Zombies Invade Booksie" but these two made the cut this month.

KM2's Poem-Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!

http://www.booksie.com/horror/poetry/km2/zombieszombieszombies

Shane: I loved the way she presented the poem, and ended with a twist, about turning off the Xbox, symbolising that she was not really in an Apocalypse, but rather immersed in the gameplay.

Ryan: It has an interesting perspective of being a zombie in a game trying to eat the player, who as soon as he losses turns off (I think she meant off but she said on) the Xbox. This context interests me greatly, in other words I like it. 10/10 for originality.
Ethan: I'm not a poet by every definition of the word but I can pick out a clever or good poem, the zombie poem by km2 is a creative & follows an interesting subject.

BUnique's Novel-The Demise Of Hirkland Town

http://www.booksie.com/horror/novel/bunique/the-demise-of-hirkland-town/chapter/1

Shane: BUnique has created an intense thriller of the zombie genre. I feel wrapped up in the world that she has created when I read each chapter of the novel. I congratulate her on how great her content is so far, and I hope the coming chapters will continue this trend.

Ryan: This is one of my favourite books to have ever read. It has a few stuff-ups in terms of grammar but it's very much understandable. I really can't wait for the next chapter. 10/10 as it was great, and is, as I said, one of my favourites.

Ethan: From the first sentence, it was clear that it wasn't going to be half-arsed attempt at a zombie novel, set in a small rural town in England revolving around a young shop assistant who is caught in the start of the zombie apocalypse. The story it's self is especially gritty & descriptive, in my opinion it's reminiscent of a classic H.G wells or Stephen king novel. The author is undoubtedly talented. As I said I have been unable to read anymore of the novel but trust me on this, it's a real cracker. A definite read.

Diet In An Apocalypse

Here's an interesting question. What would you eat in a zombie apocalypse? What food would readily be available for you to consume? Do you know? Our expert guess here at DOSZE is that your only option is some form of Canned Food, which seems to be the go-to meal of the apocalypse. Here is a list of food that you could find food to eat:

  • Tactical Bacon
  • Baked Beans
  • Spaghetti
  • Spam
  • Canned Fruit
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Canned Soups/Stews
  • Processed Food
  • Sardines

We here at DOSZE want to know any other meals that would be easily available in the case of a Zombie Apocalypse. Feel free to comment below on food that you thought of.

Gun Of The Month

In this instalment of gun of the month, we will be looking at the Lee Enfield MK4 smle. I have had a long love with the Lee Enfield rifle, the Enfield is a British built bolt action rifle used in both WW1 & WW2 by British, Australian, Irish, Scottish & Canadian armies. The Enfield holds 10 shots unlike the other bolt action rifles, the bolt action is slick & fast yet reliable, this allows fast reloading & a high rate of fire. Unlike other WW2 rifles, the Enfield was a magazine fed rifle which means there are two ways of reloading the firearm, which is through the breach or by magazine loading. The ammunition for the Enfield is easy to come by; it uses a .303 calibre round. The recoil is low but the weapon is heavy but not much. Accuracy is high for a bolt action rifle. If you can find one I recommend fitting a bayonet.

Zombie Poem

Human Decay

A mass of decaying flesh of one's former self,

Rotten skin, Dreadful smell, Black blood through its veins,

Masses scavenge the area,

Ravenous flesh eating monsters far beyond the human nightmare,

Terrifying one's own inner self,

Vibrations of the lungs treating you well,

Rejected souls returned to wreak hell and mayhem upon this planet,

Unquenchable hunger for the flesh of the human mind,

Running away from life's troubles,

To a life of dire rubble.

Zombie Survival Plan

We have a newly improved Zombie Survival Plan for the month of August. Bear in mind that there will be one of these each month, and we aim to make it better in the whole. If you fans have any ideas of things we should do, don't be afraid to comment below.

  • Barricade all entrances and exits to home. Cover windows with dark sheets/thick blankets.
  • Collect food in bags. If you aren't very strong or you have children, pack little to no things so they won't slow you down.
  • Carefully look out at streets/nearby land and create an exit strategy, with a safe zone marked so you and your family/friends know where to go.
  • Figure out a possible destination, and think to yourself about possibilities in a Zombie Apocalypse of where to go, and how safe it would be there. Some great options include fortifying schools, public places or even, if you have access to a boat, an island.
  • Make sure you visit some shops, and get tools and seeds, as you will need them to have a sustainable place to live, and a farm to grow crops in.
  • When visiting any place that had any meaning back before the Apocalypse, wear the safest gear, and have weapons loaded, and ready to fire, as well as melee weapons ready to kill any zombies.

Ok, thanks for reading, and we will all see you guys next month for the next edition of DOSZE. Please remember to like if you enjoyed this article, become a fan if you want more, and comment on what you thought of DOSZE and what questions or information you feel needs to be brought up.
