Emotion Brown -aka- Camika Spencer is an accomplished artist; she reveals via phone with a smile, "I'm in alignment."
Starting her career in Dallas, Texas, Camika Spencer penned the national bestsellers, When All Hell Breaks Loose, Cubicles, and He Had It Coming. Ideally, most people would think that Emotion Brown was self-absorbed, walking away from a budding literary career. Emotion's story reads differently.
The former Mic_Controller of the critically acclaimed poetry ensemble Ordained in Lyrics proclaims as an artist, "I reserve a lot about me."
Spencer continues in conversation about being a poet/writer and acknowledges that not until she entered her thirties did the big picture open up regarding her career, "I will be thirty-eight this year, the rode was not that smooth; round thirty-four is when things really started to pick up."
Many women try to be like their friends, or undermine their nemesis. Instead of redefining themselves after drastic changes, they continue to stay stagnate, and complain about their situations. Realizing that all of her talents were available for her unique progression as an artist, Camika Spencer did what no one thought; she started a music career.
Emotion Brown adds, "Poetry led to music."
Recording with other like-minded artists in the south, and starting to travel, the eclectic artist decided to start a sound lab: The Cosmos. With a successful run that spawned a new musical revolution within Emotion's spirit for more than two years, it was time for things to switch up a bit.
The artist reminisces about her experiences with The Cosmos; she says simply, "I'm aware."
Brown remembers that her grandmother always told her the importance of, "getting up with the sun." That awareness she hints about manifested in to a new artistic dimension. Emotion Brown completed her first solo project entitled Stellar this past year. The sun has definitely been shining in her life.
Currently, Emotion Brown is traveling the world with the group JonathonTyler and The Northern Lights as a back-up singer, and promoting her first musical contribution to the world. On the road frequently, Spencer says that Dallas,Texas will always be her, "home base."
On another note, EBrown has a tremendous following on Myspace as a literary-musical artist.
Recently she released a press dib regarding her 2011 gypsy tour and preparing to launch the official website: www.emotionbrown.com.
