Racism In The First World Countries !!

Sometimes back racist remarks were hurled at Shilpa Shetty by the viewers and participants of the Celebrity Big Brother.They brought in open the contradictions governing the developed nations.Delving deeper in the issue,such incidents are indicative of ethnic hatred breeding among the local inhabitants ,who seem to be challenged by the the rise of immigrants.In other words,the developed nations are yet to imbibe truly humane qualities honouring universalism .

“Racist attitudes, or prejudice, are held by a substantial portion of the U.S. population.[2][3] Discrimination against African Americans, Latinos, Muslims and Arab Americans is widely acknowledged.[4] Members of every American ethnic group have perceived racism in their dealings with other groups.[5][6]”

In one of the interesting cases in United Kingdom a girl was arrested by the police who refused to to study with non-English pupils by hailing them as blacks !!Few years back Pakistani team was at the receiving end of Gibbs’s racial remarks.The cricketers like Rahul Dravid, Dhoni and others have been at the receiving end of such racist remarks. Now the way Indian students in Australia are facing one attack after another proves quite well that racist tendencies prevail in the countries who talk most about honouring humane values and human rights !!

One fails to understand why the citizens of these nations are so interested in chasing the ghost of apartheid and ,in the process , provide a new lease of life to ‘historical wrongs ‘ committed in the name of colour and race. Now ,it’s the turn of Indian students to be publicly humiliated at the hands of “white people” who failed to honour the traits of modernity despite living in ultra-modern society.It’s time for the Indians to stop moulding their patterns of living in flawed Western colours .
