This is the era of liberalization: women liberalization, industrial liberalization, liberalization of thoughts, etc.
Our constitution even guarantees to its citizens: Freedom of speech. The new mantra of freedom now is freedom of privacy. And, at the same time people go on broadcasting their personal lives on the social- networking sites. Pictures which are to be kept concealed are portrayed like the wax idols at Madam Taussad's Museum.
Freedom of speech has really gained momentum with advancement of technology. Now, one can enjoy freedom to speak anything by various sources of communications: internet, cellular phones, televisions, journals, etc.
Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Orkut , the three souls of internet world have really brought freedom of speech to its paramount. People driven out by mere craziness go on posting anything and everything about anyone and everyone. And somewhere in this frenziness, people have lost control to draw the thin line between freedom and peace and balancing their acts.
Now everything can be done on internet: business dealings, shopping, marketing, promotion, getting into a relationship, dating, sending greetings, posting resume, education through e-learning, taking online tests, whuff……..the list is endless. Maybe in the future, marriage will be even solemnized online! No need of family and friends gatherings. So cheap and simple! We are making an elusive and surreal world real and corporeal.
If there is a parallel world, I would say its internet!!
Freedom of hanging out with friends, late night parties, getting into a relationship, pre-marital sex(even at an early age of sixteen or below), are some of the latest buzz bestowed by the power of freedom. Now this freedom has got another meaning too: open-mindedness. Can't say anything about pre-marital sex but extra-marital sex is now legal unless it is adultery.
But somewhere this freedom is taking peace out of our lives. This boundless liberty leads to stress, pain and anxiety. Its complicating our lives day-by-day. Snatching innocence which is the attribute bestowed upon humans. Its adding miseries to our lives . we go on dipping ourselves in this immense freedom, doing everything and anything, but gradually at some point our lives realization dawns upon us and we perceive the pain of freedom. Freedom comes out at the expense of our peace. We start longing for that life of simplicity but perhaps in some case it becomes too late. We want to turn back but we can't, we are just carried away, too far. It becomes the necessary evil. This is the pain of freedom.
So, be careful. Enjoy your freedom, no doubt but know to draw the thin line between boundless freedom and restricted freedom in order to maintain balance in your life.
