How to write a proper reading request

Article By: writing geniuses
Editorial and opinion

Really, I'm sick of stupid reading requests starting with the least appealing words and phrases. Hope the tips in these articles could mend your way of writing requests a bit.

Everyday, I find my profile full of reading requests written in the most "unprofessional" way. Seriously, who'd like to read someone's stuff when you wirte

"hey! i know this is spam!"

I mean, okay if you know it is spam, but what's the point of telling me? it'd only put up an expression of anger and annoyance, so nothing good out of such a reuqest.

Following points NEED to be present in your request if you really want to have more readers (which most of us do :D)

1.POLITENESS

Come on, don't give an order like

"hey! I want you to read my novel "....""

The reader will become extremely offended (like I do) and delete your request right away.

2.FRIENDSHIP

If you're looking for readers does not necessarily mean you don't want to make friends! you'll hate to be all alone, won't you? So in the start write something like

"Hi! I'm looking for friends and readers, maybe you could help?"

It'll give a sweet expression on the reader and even if you don't gain a reader, you may gain a friend which is of course better xD

3.PROFILE

DO NOT LEAVE A REQUEST IF THE PERSON HAS MENTIONED IN THE PROFILE THAT READING REQUESTS ARE CLOSE. It usually leads to rude questions like "Can't you read?" and you certainly want to avoid that :P

Take in a bit of the profile, just a bit about name and hobbies stuff and leave something like

"Oh! I like Taylor Swift too! "

That'd make your request more acceptable :)

Still, after these tips, you do not get comments, it means that either the person is busy or "really busy". These tips might prove a bit useful if you try to use them :) Give them a shot then tell me what you think!!!
