To me, most important is work - writing. It relaxes me, calms me, makes me feel better.
Now, all of the elements are important when you want to be successful. Most than all, publicity.

The publisher, unfortunately.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
in my opinion, theyre all about the same as far as importance.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
i thik the most important would be the actual writing. without it, there is nothing else, you know? I feel the writing is th base of the whole thing. =] ♥♥

The reader. Not all of us are writers, not all of us are publishers, all of us read. We writers crave their attention and adore their comments, good or bad.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
the writer is important only so far as it is the writer's genius that gives the readers a gem to read and in that the writer puts a bit of herself/himself in the story to give it life. readers are important in that they associate with what is written and form an unknown bond with the writer giving the words a new meaning,
But to me, it is the writing itself that is most important. it has a quality all of it's own, an existence separate of the writer and the reader. you often hear writers say the words wrote themselves, and every writer has experienced moments when the words just flow not knowing form where. i believe if you have something to say and a story to tell it finds a way out in one form or the other. that's what makes a book immortal and gives words such magical power to make on smile and cry.
we often forget who wrote the words and maybe the words themselves, but never the way you felt when you read them. I often have strong feelings associated with books i that have made an impression of me and just talking about them or seeing them brings out wonderful sensations. that's why for me the writing is the most important

I think that they are all important because without the author there would be no story and with out the readers the story doesn't get very far. Without the publisher the story doesn't get seen. Yeah I think I'm talking in circles lol.

the actual writing is more important
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
i think writing is the most important because
1: i love to write
2: you can't have a writer with out writings
3: you can't have readers with out a writer
do you get what i mean? i a way this question is like the chicken and the egg which comes first? but i always say the T-rex because the chicken is a desented of the T-rex.
i sorry for my spelling if i did mispell anything i spell bad sorry ={

It is almost a Catch-22 situation. But, if I have to voice an opinion. I would say that it is more of a balancing act. They all have to work together for any one to survive.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
The reader is the most important! The publisher second! But if you write and nobody reads it then none of that other stuff even exists!!!! You may as well not write if you don't have readers I mean right? Well you asked for my opinion and that is it :D
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
well, without the writer there is no writing, without the reader there is no need for either writer or writing. so they need each other to exist. so my list of most important is:
1. writer/writing/reader
2. publisher
3. critic/reviewer
4. marketing (publicity)
Very interesting questions smoizza. I never really thought about it before. =D

i think the writing is the most important...
its how good and meaningful it is that makes up everything else.
Who is the most popular/famous Booksie female/male writer?
dunno ? there so many... i've seen so many good writers here..
Do you like female writers more than the male?
not necessarily , sometime i like guys writer cause i wanna know what guy think and feel but dont show
Which are the top writings in Booksie in Novel, Short Story, Poetry, Article, Script, Book Review, Book, Essay, Misc.
this i cant really say...
but the best script ive read on here was
"sorry, but i love you" by kitty bell darling - kerstie-chan
its sweet and childish, it a fairytale thats why i love it...
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
the reader in my opinion. there isn't any one booksian who has more talent than another, some people just have more room for improvement. i like an even number of male and female writers. I would say poetry.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
My opinion is that they are all the same. But if I really had to pick it out. The writer would be the most important. Because first of all the writer has a life to live.. the writing doesn't. And everything comes from the writer... not from the writing. And writing helps us to vent. So it helps the writer. And to add on the publisher is also important.. as it lives also.. but your writing doesn't have to be published to be a great writing. I also think that they are all most important in there own seperate ways. You can't really choose one. As for the survey. I honestly don't think these questions should be asked. Because everyone has there own opinion. And not everyone has favorites. Because all of them have that little twist that catches you that makes you love it. Its your favorite in the writers and writings own special way. I hope you know what I mean and don't take offence to what I'm saying. It's just my opinion. Oh and I really like this post. It makes you think about how much you really have done on booksie. And makes me look back on how much I have learned from other peoples' writings. Thankyou for posting it. I'm sure we all had fun trying to answer the questions. Take care!!

Long after the writer, the reader and the publisher are gone, the writen word remains.
In the beginning was the word, and the word was good!
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
would be the publisher or there would be no readers or a book
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
My opinion is that reading, writing, and the writer are in equal importance. Reading to lenghten your vocabuly, writing for you can express your ideas, then the writer for using his/hers imagination and bringing it all together.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
They all complete the circuit, but personally I feel that the writing is the transcending componenet. What about you?

The question is worth more than the answer;
The love more lovely than the romancer.
You may think that my reply is cryptic;
Penned by a rhyming know-it-all dip-stick.
And yet you may come to agree:
No, neither he, she, thee nor me,
Not yet, like a poem can we,
Like a work of art, simply, be.
Does that sound like one hand clapping?
Will western humans ever stop napping?
Perchance, perforce, or by grace we know it,
And yet, only our best work can show it.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Bridges rust.
His name and other colossi are dust.
Not one of our vessels can stay
As long as our words etched in clay
“How vain, without the merit, is the name.”

To be quite honest, they are all important.
Without the writer, there would be no story to tell, no emotions to put out on the literary sleeves of their mind. The writer is essential in well, writing. Who else would do it? Who else has that passion for written words, who else has the desire to create pictures and scenes in a readers head?
The writing, without it, we would have no books, no magazines, no encyclopedias, no web pages even. Without the coporeal form of these words, these ideas, creating stories and poems would be obsolete. In this day and age we have too much to think about, and therefore don't have the ability to remember stories and legends like the orators of old.
The reader is what gives life to the literary world. The reader is the person who wants more, they want to know what the characters are thinking about. They want to get inside the author's head.
Reviewers/editors are crucial, they point out plot line flaws that we as authors refuse to admit to. They point out weaknesses. No one wants to hear a story that repeats the same thing just in different sentence forms.
The publisher is who funds the whole expedition. Without it, we would all be writing the books one by one by hand. The publisher enables us as authors to send our books out into the world to touch the lives of others.
Publicity. Without the publicity, would anyone ever know you've published a book? No, they wouldn't and publicity allows the public to know what's out there.
This is only my humble opinion and it may be wrong. It is merely the philosophical ramblings of an educated teenager. (Oxymoron right there, I know)

The Readers are the most important ones , because anyone can write or publish a book, but without readers there's no reason to write.
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
in my opinion, the writer is the most important, because without the writer there would be no critic, publisher, reader, writin, or publicity!! and in my opinion the most popular write on booksie is currently CheetahBear!!

THE WRITER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. I think people often forget that writing is supposed to be fun. Sure, it's nice to know people want to read what you write, but shouldn't you write for yourself first. To me, it doesn't matter if I never get anything read; writing is what I do when i have something important to say to myself. FIRST WRITE FOR THE PLEASURE OF WRITING. FOR THOSE WHO SAY THAT WITHOUT THE READERS THERE IS NO REASON TO WRITE, I SUGGEST YOU DO SOME DEEP THINKING, BECAUSE UNFORTUNATELY TO ME THAT IS NOT A REAL WRITER. HOWEVER, IF YOU WRITE FOR THE READERS, THAT'S A DIFFERENT STORY, BUT EVEN IF YOU DON'T GET READ, DON'T DISCOURAGE YOURSELF. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A REASON TO WRITE!
Posted: Oct 1, 2008
to me the most important is the writer. Well, it's very obvious that all those imagination running on the words are his/her own that made us all interested on what it says. Some writers didn't wrote poems for publicity and didn't matter to them if everyone liked that poem just as long as he/she expresses his/her feeling.
I don't actually say which is the famous book/writer after all it didn't bother me at all just as long I can know what is in those binds or pages:) Well I like female writers because well, when you read some good books you thought it was a male author who wrote it. (Consider J.V. Jones, I thought he was a guy, turns out the opposite). But I like male writers too.:)
Too many to mention on which are the top writings on booksie:)

aha , the chicken or the egg thing . without the reader , well there'd be no point in writing . without the writing , there'd be nothing to read , so both must take centre stage , publishers , publicity etc , well they provide an outlet for your work , writers to reader and visa versa .
as for the talent on booksie , you have to be kidding . each writer in their own way contributes something . you included . there are some fantastic writers on here , they in turn look around our work and leave comment that inspires us to improve . it is only polite to read some of the work of those who have commented on yours , some of the work i have read has been way beyond good . we are a growing family , helping each other , long may it continue .

i agree with Terry in the who's the best in booksie in your opinion etc...
but i think that the wirter is most important..because that is what all it revolves around, the wirter

i think the writer, for there will be no writings if there is no writer and if there is no writing there is no reader .did you get it?

Oops! Didn't log in. The writer, I believe, is the most important. The write creates all these things, the writings, books, novels, poetry, and without the write, there would be no writing, for the publisher to publish, nothing for the publicity to publicize..It all starts with the write!

writer always, without them there is nothing else.
I would say ashen
females though I read both
Poems always but novels are a close second.
Great question and survey
so, what's your opinion?

hi! s. well, well. there r ONLY two types:
1. READER: each one of us is a reader first. v read our own work - be it a writer or publisher or what've u. a reader gives us creative satisfaction. s/he r our encouraging/appreciating 'bone'. what is the use of writing 10,000 books, which no one reads. (unless u r trying to create a guinness record.) the purpose of any writing is to be read and as of today, to be bought.
2. BUYER: each one of us is/can be a buyer. without a buyer, a writer cannot pay her/his bills. a buyer is the economics side of writing. without a buyer, literature cannot and wil not survive. it'll of course exist but what is the use of decorating the shelves only in the book stores - just gathering dust and occupying valuable space.
a sensible author'll always keep readers' interests in mind and write catering to the masses unless s/he can roll out stuff that can set fire to sales like jk rowling and stephanie Meyers (popular writers). if ur creativity can light a fire in the reader’s heart, then it is a double gain. this is who, I call a WRITER. s/he is not only writing for the pleasure of it and for themselves but r gaining readers/buyers.
and then there r timeless literary writers and writings. they transcend borders of countries and languages. they r universal and r found in school/college texts. tolstoy, chekhov, tagore et al fall in this category.
personally, writing gives me a high. it is an extension of me and my creativity. i enjoy it. ideas keep bubbling and i shoot. i don't write to cater to an audience BUT i need to know reader response. it (reader response) is like icing on the cake (writing). it tells u where ur work stands. it gives u literary satisfaction.
as a reader, if i like something, i read it again and again as it gives me pleasure. and the writer doesn't count here for i don't look for names. i look for the written work.
were i a published author, i'll of course be earning by my writing. then i can quit my job and i know i've 'arrived'. even a work of art is dependent on money (or all publishing houses'll shut down and then where the writer/publisher/critic/etc'd be.)
finally, as i mentioned above, it boils down to two - reader and buyer (primary). only a written work (secondary) is important. writer is always tertiary unless popularity reaches zenith.
the 'bestsellers' lists r all trash. they r driven towards sales and not being literary. any trash can become a bestseller. any bullshit is capable of being published. all u need is power and pelf. a good work'll always find a reader. remaining works'll always need promotion (what u term as marketing/publicity).
invite a reader to ur work and make her/him aware of it. it is like 'u can take the horse to the water but u cannot make it drink'. that drinking part is at the discretion of the reader. and the reader is intelligent.
so, if the reader is KING, the buyer is QUEEN and both r essential for a written work.
-----
regarding the survey:
1. I'M THE MOST POPULAR. jokes apart, popularity is all in the mind. in recent times, i've liked MAMBERCONRAD's works. they've a vulnerability that attracts. KSHITIJ SHARMA's poems've a dynamism that pulsates the reader.
2. a work doesn't go by any gender. it is work alone. when i read , i read it for the pleasure value it offers. it can be a female or male writer. that doesn't matter. based on the merit of work, it can go either way. so this (fe)male'll keep fluctuating.
but it goes without saying, female writers always become popular (more than the males). have u ever wondered why romantic novelists r always FEMALE. is it something to do with glamour. this is left open for debate.
3. without doubt, it is POETRY. u can express ur innermost feelings uninhibitedly in poems. it doesn't require any form. and it lays bare ur heart. the poem i've read innumerable times is SNOWBELLE's "rodney's final flight of fancy!".
thank you for providing a platform where i could let my hair down. this is great. this set my grey cells ticking and i could express myself unrestrained. ;-)

Importance is relative, they all must exist ,independent from each other,so ,ironically they or we ,can exist.....there will be not readers without writers and even a writer can do his/her job ,if no one read it well it is like if it would not exist....
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
My opinion on your first question...ALL. In writing, the writer, the writing, the reader, the critic/reviewer, the publisher, and the publicity are all equally important in the writing process. But you did leave someone out, don't forget about the writer's mate who has to put up with us!
Survey:
1. Who is the most popular/famous Booksie female/male writer? My answer: I don't know about the whole scope of Booksie as a whole, but the most popular on my fanlist is definitely Bubbly.
2. Do you like female writers more than the male? My answer: I can't say I prefer female to male or male to female. I like to read pieces from good writers, whether they be male or female.
3. Which are the top writings in Booksie in Novel, Short Story, Poetry, Article, Script, Book Review, Book, Essay, Misc. My answer: That I think comes down to the readers opinion. If you like poetry, you would say poetry are the top writings. If you like novels you'd say novels, etc. etc. I myself like a good mix of things, so I can't say that one genre outshines another.

the writing.
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
i think the reader, because it is in their opinion which inspires the writer to write better. Of course, the writer is writing to get the reader's attention, right??
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
I believe the most important thing is the reader. A work can be brilliant; but if nobody reads it, who cares? A writer can be a genius; but if nobody likes him, what's the point? A work ahead of it's time, utterly amazing and profound, yet not in the mindset of the public, will crash and burn. The reader is the consumer; the consumer controls the market, in this case, literature.
Well, that's what I believe, at any rate.
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
Everyone is important.
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
it's hard for me to decide which one is the most important, since all of them interconnect with one another. but the writer may be the most important. because if there is no writer, there would be no writing. if there is no writing, there would be no reader. if there is no reader, there won't be anyone who would be reviewing. if there is no review, there won't be any publishing. if no publishing, there won't be any buyer. no buyer, no need publicity.
about booksie writers, well, i'm not very sure since there're like thousand of writers here and i haven't visited them all yet. so i don't know who's the famous one here.
i like both female and male writings. the differences are quite unique and fun.
for me, poetry.
Posted: Oct 2, 2008
Well i believe the writer is important. The writer must feel more of an artist, therefore his "masterpiece" would be enjoyed by the reader, because i find it hard for there(back to the chicken/egg thing)to be a spectator of the artwork unless they are shown something.
or as a question: Who came first, the fan or the artist?
to me it is obvious the artist came first and developed his/her own fans. so therefore I believe the writer is much more important because without them no readers would exist. and it's the same thing vice versa, "no readers because no writing", "no writing due to no readers". but you can have "writing and no readers" (even though it's a tough and sad spot in life) and it isn't recommended for any writer to be in (especially if they try to make a living out of it.)
and for the other survey:
i prefer female writers. Although i get angry opening a story with a title way different from the story having to be about vampires (the generation's favorite genre)(i don't like vamps) but i like reading about high school stuff. It's a theme i can relate to (most of the time)and it's usually funny :] I truly believe females and males are equal but females have a higher "hilarious" rate :D (men and their boring convos rofl)
but it's just me :P i might be wrong @__@ but it's not the case at my school :]

ha ha....Clever. You knew people couldn't resist trying to crack something as diverse in response as this, could you? I have to laugh. I'm sorry but as far as i'm concerned all of the above is connected. None can be more important than the other because it's like a chain, if you disclude a link or lose one your chain is incomplete.
You have to think of it this way: You need a writer to express their thoughts in an entertaining maner, you need the writting to be able to express their thoughts in a appealing way to the readers and you need the readers to see your work so that they can hear your thoughts and be entertained by your words you need the reviewer to be an honest reader and give you constructive feed back on how you might improve your work so that that your writting is more entertaining and thus the greater number of readers that lkike your work and see it. Without the publisher you wouldn't be able to promote your writting as a writer to all who would enjoy it and for the actual reviewer to notice it, you need the publicity to futher your sucess with any work you plan to release in the future or to get published in the future and so on, finlly I have to say there isn't much difference between your buyer and your reader except the buyers you have the more publicity causing a chain recation, that all the other contrubitors follow.
SO, they are all equally important as a whole not as parts. You can't truly have one without the other because your chain would be incomplete. I wrote this answer thourgh a writer's view but if you were to think it thourgh it would be equally improtant to any of the other contrubitors.
Ha ha as for your survey. AGAIN you seem talented in the art od catching someone's intersted. Asking question you should know, no one's going to answer truthfully. No offense to any of my bookise family, because I love everyone here, But no one's going to answer this straight faced. they'll usually do one of two things (For who's the most popular)
1) use the name of a person they wish to gain favor with, like a friend or someone who has an important say in what bookise readers read.
2) Not give an answer, because they know what they think or believe could cause conflicts with others. Like if you choose one of your friends over the others or one top person against someone almost equally tied.
OR they don't want to say one specific person among thousands because they don't kno them all and in turn find someone they think is better.
Also keep in mind that everyone has different tastes. I might favor a writer because of the genre or topic they favor over someone more skilled because I'm not pleased with their chosen topic. (Which I wouldn't choose.)
When it comes to whether a female or a male is better at writting....What were you thinking....
The world is so diverse! Think of it as a scienctific experment. all the varibles aren't under the same condtion, you can't truly say without controling them. in our growing world a male and a female can be equal. It depends on where their from, how they grow up, their tastes.......They're education......There are so many things that could set a one woman as being a better writer than one specific man and vice versa. Their isn't a way to truly say......It's really only fair to asume we are all the same.
Finally when it comes to reads...I think your just looking for something TO read. And on Bookise that can be a difficult task. You just have to find writers who share the same taste as you. And again if you really wanted to what is best....You should consider the factors. It's all to one's oipion.
My....This is a lot...i hope it helps, if just a little. Even if I didn't straight forward give you specifics I did answer the questions. :)
If you want any recomendations, just let me know what your in to and I'd be glad to make you a list of posts and writers here you'd like......
HAVE A SUPER DAY!

I personally thing you should write just to write, you should have a main focus other then doing something that you like. Sure it would be great if my stories were to be published someday, but that's not why I write. It's because I love to do it.
1. I havent really been on lately, so I couldn't really tell you who the most popular is. :(
2. I don't really care one way or the other if a writer is male or female. It's more about the way that they write then what gender they are.
3. I've only read the work of five of these people, and I've really like them all so I'll just rate the five that I know. :)
5-Dannika
4.5-Isabeau
4-AddieWestwood

The reader,it's the reader who decides which books will survive on the market and by extention which books will influence current writers and which writers the publishers will choose to print.
You can write masterpieces and still go unnoticed. The best example of this is B. S. Johnson, who even if writers and avid readers have heard of him, most people haven't, you can't even buy his books in th UK just now, although a publishing group did try to sell him. Basically it's up to the reading public who lasts and who doesn't.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
I think that the person who is the most important is probably the reader because without readers. Though I love to write!
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
I think the actual writing is most important. Most people write for themselves and not others; I know I do. Sure the writer is important, because without them, there wouldn't be readers, but the actual process of writing and the actual work is most important, if only for the writer themself.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
I'ts gotta be the reader. They make the difference in what you write or if they like it or not. Others are our own choice.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
i tihnk the writing because if we didnt have the actual writing what we gonna read?
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
the most important is without a doubt the thought of the writing itself.
without it, the writer would have nothing to write about and the readers would have nothing to read. same with every other related profession.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
I think that everyone shares an equal value here. It's like trying to balance a spoon on the edge of a bowl. If you move it just alittle to much it will fall, just like if you take one out the whole thing becomes without purpose.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
they all matter equally, maybe not so much the publisher if it gets around by way of mouth.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
the writing. without there would be nothin.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
i think they are all important
but if i have to put an importance on them
i'll say
the reader
the writer
the writing
the critic
the publisher
the publicity
then the buyer
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
The reader, the writer and the writing are equal. Without a reader, theres no one to show your work to. There has to be a writer to write the work, and there has to be the writing to have a reader etc.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
Christine, how come I got the lowest score?
:( Oh well I'm glad you like my stuff, none the less...
Alright survey as you've freakin' want so very bad, that my cleaarly thought through answer couldn't provide you with.
My top 5 favorite bookise writers are the following:
1. missrachyvengance (Sorry if I spelled it wrong.) AKA most know her as the fabulous writer of 'Key to a vampire's heart.' I love all of her stuff though.
2.werewulf14...Best buddy.....Most talented friend.
3.Astrocam the 2nd, one of the nicest people you will ever meet!
4.cantlive4evr, awesome writer and a really good friend.
5.Rabid Rabbit.
Okay, happy now? I shall be malled and attacked for having to narror down my bookise family to only five!
Oh and I'm still not anwser the other part....
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
I think the most important is the writting, because of the effort, and the many ideas that goes through your mind as you write....
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
It's all relative. It depends on from what capacity you are operating at the time. Sometimes, I feel I'm more important as the reader as I want to read quality writing. Other times, it's as the writer because I want readers to be engrossed in what I've written. The publisher is essential as without that, none of us would exist in the paper/cyberspace world of literary. And, I've learned that a good agent is necessary to get a foot in the door to publish damn near anything! It's all important and I can't imagine any one existing without the others on the list. :-) ~ K
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
Well, without writers, we wouldn't very well have readers, now would we? And without readers, writers wouldn't have a reason to exist. And without the publisher/ publicity types there wouldn't be anyone to direct the reader where to go or for anyone the writer to ultimately rebel against.
So, the question doesn't matter, does it? Everyone is as important as no one.
Posted: Oct 3, 2008
The reader, for they can sometimes interpret the words of the writer better than the writer themselves.

I believe it depends on the purpose of the writing. For example, when writing a journal or blog, the most important would be the writer. If you're simply looking to be monetarily successful, it's a combination of the publishers, editors, readers, and buyers--mostly the latter. Without the people paying out money to enjoy your work, you'll never be successful. If you're trying to get a message across with an essay or article, the writing is most important, as it needs to be able to convey your message accurately. As for myself, I write for two reasons: my own personal enjoyment and for the enjoyment of others that read it. I'm not looking for a large audience, but anyone who reads it and likes it, I feel better. So, for me personally the reader is the most important because without readers my work has no meaning. So, in general, I think importance is based purely on situation and can fluctuation from time to time.

Personaly I think the reader.....they probly don't want to be reading a boring book.
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
UMMMMMMMMMMM
YOU CANT WRITE WITHOUT A WRITER
BUT NO ONE CAN READ IT WITH OUT A PUBLISHER
BUT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT WITH OUT THE MARKETER
BUT THERES NO POINT WITH OUT THE READER
AND THE WRITER CANT HAVE READERS WITH OUT THE MONEY FROM THE BUYER
SOOOOOO............ THERE ALL EQUALLY IMPORTANT YOU CANT HAVE ONE WITH OUT THE OTHER ITS A CHAIN OR SOMETHING

I say the writing because without it there would be nothing for the reader and writer, and there would be nothing to publish, buy, or make popular or review. Writing completes the circle of all the options.
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
the writer, writing and reader are the most important. The rest just follow.
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
The publicity if your talking about what is most important to a books success. No end of book series (usually those aimed at under 15s are overhyped and overated to thhe point that they become a fad.
Take the Twilight series for example, badly written boring books but the publicity has hyped them up so much that every emo kid across the world is under the impression Meyer is the 2nd coming of Shakespear.
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
They are all important, you need them all. The Writer, the writing, the reader, the publisher, the publicity, and the buyer. it all goes in a circle.
The writer needs to write the writing, the reader reads it the publisher gives it publicity and the buyer gives you the money to write more. Weird system, but it's true.

i think its all about the writer. It doesnt even really matter how amazing their writing is at the end of the day because its just a free, uninhibited expression of one's self and therefore is unbeatable in my opinion!
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
I believe everyone is important in their own way, one can't work without the other, a writer is needed to write. A creative mind is needed for writing, a reader is needed to appreciate the work, a publisher is needed to get it out their to audiences.
But I think it all boils down to the writing style. I believe it's the most important aspect that distinguishes a good story from an okay story to a story that needs work. If the story is well written, catches your attention and you can relate to it or want to keep on reading, you are definitely a great writer. A publisher would buy your book, reproduce it, and a reader will willing read it and look forward to more. So its all about the person and how strong their writing skill is. But to believe that the other elements are not important is a mistake, as we need all of these to make it work, for the writer, the reader and the publsher, to get the writing out.
thats my thoughts

The most important to me is the writer, because if I read a book by and author and I like it, chances are i will buy all his/her books.
Writing #2
#3 the readers/fans
and its hard to say about the rest I think because no body really notices them I think. Maybe publicity can help though.

For me writing is very important.WRITING is actually a gateway to someone's thoughts.Whatever u write always has an impact on others......so always try to leave a positive impact.....As far as popularity is concerned ,it is publicity dat plays an important role.....if u dnt publicize ur writng then how on earth people will come to know abt ur masterpiece.
Have a gud day!!!!!!! 4m sweet bunny!!!!!!!

I would have to go with the writer on this one. If you have the writer, nothing else really is that important. A book doesn't really need to be published, it could be just for one's personal acheivments or goals. The writing comes from the writer and his personal thoughts and the critic or reviewer, in this case, doesn't need to be the public. So.. I say the writer is the most important hehe
Posted: Oct 5, 2008
i would have to go with the writer because even though the reader feels wat were feeling or seeing from our view. It's that we can make it go on paper also the writer and the reader are on the same levels but still the writer is more important on some bases if u catch my drift hehe thnks for letting me know about this

I believe the most important is the writing itself without it you would not have a reader and you would not have a writer.
It is amazing, yet frustrating on how upsetting it can be.
Ahh the lovely mention of writing. The very word uttered brings tranquility and peacefulness to my chaos that screams from within.
It is funny to me how people really can be so oblivious to the joys of writing and what it brings to them.
I mention this to people close. And quite often at that. The suggestion of writing comes as a mere hand that will help. I chuckle at the common argument if something is bothering me I will just speak of it.
Speaking, is that not only another word for writing, Where does writing such as this come from? Surely not a mysterious hand. No, writing is words spoken on paper. When you write anything goes
It is your world forget everyone else.
The phrase I will say what I want, When I want and How I want have never been more accurate to the actuality of it.
Its yours, people do not have to read it, and sometimes you place it out there but wish people will not.
Writing is a form of escape. For me I can say so much more then If I was to try and say it aloud. Because when I am writing it is what I want it to be. I have complete control over what is read by others. Words flow so easily through my fingers.
It helps me sort out the uttermost wants, needs, and desires.
It helps me separate the bad from the good. Ahh writing.
I really feel as if people would take more time to let themselves go they would see what I see.
Yet, if that was so, it would detour from the worlds idea on how things should be done. For if it wasn't for the different point of views life had to offer it definitely would not be as interesting. We would not have the theories we have to day.
And if it wasn't for others perspectives I would not beable to have my own ideas as I do.
Strangers :) My favorite type of all. I smile when I think of them. It is so easy to share with strangers. They do not know you as well as others, they have no personal feelings getting in the way of there true words of wisdom they speak. I laugh at the very statement no wonder lawyers like jury's so well :) It is so much easier to persuade them to your form of thinking because they know nothing of who you are, who they are, all they know is facts, and own personal views.

I'd have to say it's a tie between the writer and the reader. For without the writer the book, story, poem etc. woulnd't exist at all, and without the reader...well...what would the point of writing be if there was no one who read it?
Posted: Oct 6, 2008
This is an attempt of mine to subject this to logic and reason of my own (just for kicks)
Theory:
-God wrote the Holy Books (Bible, Qur'an, Torah) (writer)
-These books holds the ways of life (writing)
-People read them, to learn and abide (readers)
-His prophet was spreading his message (publicity)
-Sahabi, Apostles gathered the spoken word and gathered it in a book (publisher)
Result:
Based on the above hypothesis, we can deduce that, the most important is the writer
A writer can exist without readers, but readers need to read something written, and how important his writing is is subjective....
I just came up with this, as i was thinking for an answer to the question...!

I agree with moonella's ideas...it's a combination.
To add to this..what is a great article/book, painting, piece of music, etc...without the imagination of the creator?
It was a great idea to put these questions out there.

well, i would say that in some way, the writer, the reader and the writings are interconnected in a tight bond. the writer is essential of course, for there will be no writings if there is no writer, right? the writings are important cause everyone have to give it a thought that the world goes around because of writings; be it from philosopher, famous authors or scientists who are trying to depict anything interesting or valuable for the society. writings are also great sources for info and preferences. what are findings without writings anyway? the reader, well i guess we must have known of their importance. what are in writings with no readers. you see the point?
we learn, we write and spread it around for readers. so, we are somehow connected to each other :)

Reader and reader and reader.

Posted: Oct 10, 2008
um... they´re all equally important in my opinion. A lack in one would send the success of the whole deal crashing...
Posted: Oct 11, 2008
I think that partly the writer is writing first anf foremost for themself. It is only after they are finished that the product goes to the reader. So I think the writer is most important, followed closely by the reader. I don't think that publishers have much bearing, and unless you are a professional writer, the market doesn't either. All of my writing I do for myself, and the reader is important to me, because without them, what is the meaning of my work, other than to just sit in a notebook and be forgotten. he reader gives it life.
Posted: Oct 12, 2008
I have to say the wtiter and reader are the both as important as each other....
Posted: Oct 12, 2008
Hey there. I believe the writing is more important. I believe it because we all have something to share and the writing can help a person to brighten there day. What good is nothing is ever written. I believe the writing can inspire and maybe possibly save a life of someone from commiting a terrible action upon themselves. Hopefully it can help others and spread more good words to those who are not understanding and in fear. I just like the good feelings that writings can bring to a person.

wow what a lot of comments!!
well i think (like many others) that all of them are important
because without one you can't have the other.
and each is important because without them we woulnd't be able to use this website and exchange our thougts, POVS, and stories.
BTW GREAT OUTCOME OF COMMENTS!!!
YOU RULE!!!! ~^o^~/ (YAY)

ow my middle finger is sore from scrolling past all the comments lol. um id have to say a tie betewwn publisher and writer. and reader comes second yea. thats what i think. cheers, ciao!

I think the writer is the most important. You wouldn't have the reader, publisher, buyer, etc. without the writer.
That's just my point of view.
Posted: Oct 27, 2008
This was interesting.
My answer: the writing is most important. You cannot call yourself a writer if you do not write. And without the writer there cannot be readers and there cannot be publishers, etc.
Very interesting article. :)

The writer. Without the writer there is nothing else. There is no writing, so there is nothing to be read or publisher etc. Its all got to start at the roots and the at roots is the writer
Posted: Oct 30, 2008
well without the writer, there would be not writing, and without the writing, there would be no readers, and without the readers, why would the writer write?
uuugh, my brain.

I know I'm late in answering this but I couldn't help it.
Hmm... this is a hard question. In my opinion I think that this is somehow like a rock, paper, scissors. Let me explain.
without the writer
there's no writing
and without the writing there's no reader
without the reader there's can't be a critic/reviewer
therefore you can't have a publisher
meaning you can't have a marketing (publicity)
so there is no buyer.
Now you might think the writer is most important when i tell you this but then i think...
Without the buyer there is no need for a writer therefore the writing is useless and so on so forth. I know, now i got you confused but I hope you catch my drift.

smoizza,
Have not I made my plea for a buyer. I need someone to find this valuable. If I can not find a buyer than I won't have value. This was the first thought that came to my mind.
Great piece !

If it wasnt for the writers, we'd have nothing to read.If it wasnt for the readers,we'd be writing for just ourselves. If it wasnt for the publisher, our work would never be seen. The way I look at it is, we are all important!

i'm about to disagree with all of you, the most inportant part is all 7 as without 1 none would work. And if none work then no money gained (unless it isn't being sold where the writer is more important.
Money is the most important
Can anyone have a read of the start of my novel Dark Weapon, and give me feedback.
The Outsiders are coming, are you ready?

I think that they all make the world go round. The writer is inspired to write. The reader enjoys the read the writing of course. I personally write to express what I am feeling and to get it out and on paper. Even though no ever reads my work, I have value to God who knows the number of hairs upon my head which changes daily as my hair is thinning. My son said, "Mama, you definitely need to start wearing a hair net when preparing food."

Without any one of those the whole system fails, hehe.
