*Zoe*

In school I am a completely different person, I laugh and I smile. It takes my mind off things for a few hours, but then I know when the final bell rings I'm forced to face reality. None of my friends know anything about my family, not even my boyfriend. He picks me up every day for school, I'm scared one day he will find out what I live with. "Finally." I said under my breath as he pulls up. His name is Jacob and we have been together for 11 months, I really like having him in my life he helps a lot. "Hey Jake." I got in and he drove off.

"Hey, I tried to call yesterday, why didn't you call back?" Now that is simple, my auntie took a turn for the worse. We had to call the doctor and he said it could be near the end. Which of course was devastating too all of us.

"I was doing homework, I completely forgot." I said smiling; I have become a lot better when it comes to lying. I hate doing it, but I still don't want anyone knowing about my home life.

"You need to take a break once in a while, look I'm having a party at my house Saturday night." I just looked at him, he knew that really wasn't my thing. "Come on Zoe, it would be great if you were there."

"Jake parties are not my thing." I think Jake knows there's something not right, but I guess he is too afraid to ask, I love him but I really don't want him to know about my home life. He just nodded and didn't say another word until we got to school. "Jake." I said.

"Yeah?" I walked closer to him.

"I wish I could be honest with you." I walked off, I couldn't finish that sentence. I couldn't tell him why I can't go to parties, why I can't hang out on the weekend. It would be a lot easier if he knew, but it could be enough for him to end it with me.

*Jessica*

School for me isn't bad, I have friends but I don't have a boyfriend. I'm a nerd and sometimes I get a bit bullied, but I don't care. My best friend is Samantha; she doesn't know anything about my home life. "Jess, Jess." Samantha was shaking me, I guess I dozed off again.

"Oh sorry." I said laughing, she knows something is up. I guess I won't be able to hide much longer.

"So want to go shopping this Saturday?" she asked.

"I can't." I just said, I needed time to think of an excuse.

"Why?" she said sounded a little sad.

"I have chores." That could work.

"All day?" I nodded.

"I have a very big house." I said, she looked a bit disappointed.

"We never do anything, there's something else going on." My eyes suddenly grew wide, I had to say something but I was interrupted by something being chucked at me. It was a glass beaker, from the science rooms. It broke on my head and blood dripped down the side of my face.

"Ouch, did you see who did that?" I asked Samantha nodded.

"Take a guess." She said, I knew what that meant.

"Shelby." I said, and then I walked out of the classroom and bumped into Zoë.

"Jess? Oh my god what happened?" I laughed it off.

"I fell, silly me." I said, she has no idea about me being bullied.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine." She stepped closer and looked at it.

"It looks kind of deep Jess." She said, I wasn't surprised. The things Shelby has done, this is only minor.

"I'll be okay." I said and walked away from her. I really hate my school life.
