As another soldier dies
Do you even hear the cry?
Fighting for democracy you claim
Making policy in your Ivory tower
Playing chess with peoples lives
As the death toll rises by the hour
And how do you decide where democracy lies?
Why only in the middle-east?
Why Don’t the oppressed of Africa
Get invited to your "feast?"
To the cynic it would seem
Your vision starts on gasoline
For all your political rhetoric
It’s the gush of oil that makes you tick
And all the while the young men fight
Can they distinguish wrong from right?
Shot from gun, or blown apart
Just so your car will always start
As another soldier dies
Do you even hear the cry?
