An Old Man At Eighteen
It's better to have loved and lost,
than never to have loved at all.
I'm sorry but I disagree,
I can't see why at all.
'Don't give up, be positive,
or else you'll fall and drown.'
It's far too late, my lungs have filled,
since you are not around.
These words are so 'beyond my age,'
or at least that's what might seem
to be the case, but really I'm
an old man at eighteen.
With hindsight I can look at all
the chances that I've missed,
My heart's been hung, burnt at the stake,
but never have I been kissed.
