Most essentially inspired by a quote from The Architect from The Matrix: 'Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness.'
In my opinion this is 100% the truth, while hope can inspire us to do some great things and pick us up from the darkest depths, sometimes it keeps us holding onto things which simply do not exist.

Our Greatest Strength And Source Of Weakness: Hope
Hope will fly you home again
and decorate your heart,
it gives you one more reason
and it stops you falling apart.
Hope provides that helping hand
that helps you every day.
Hope will breathe new life in you,
then take your breath away.
Hope'll pick you up when down,
when you're cold it'll lend you its coat.
Hope will hold you up again, then
hope will slit your throat.
