Life as a Mom, Student, Entrepreneur
I am a single parent with a 15 yr old daughter. Her father and I are no longer together but he is very active in her life! The past 3 years have been quite a change in venue with her and I and her father. We have all done so good with adjusting and now her father and I are actually friends, again!
Two years ago I lost my mom and for the first time, I found myself totally at a loss. I did not know how to go about my days except on auto-pilot. Which when it came to driving was not all that smart, thank goodness nothing ever happened.
In February of last year, I woke up one morning and decided I was going to go back to school. I started and completed a certificate program years ago for the secretarial field. I enjoyed it and always wish I would have continued on from there. Researching for Business Management took a few days before I called Kaplan University Online and started the application process. What a long time that seemed to take, but it was like mom was with me and so I was patient and seen the process through until I found out I got accepted. I am now in my 6th term and I enjoy the classes I have taken, right now is Marketing. My expected graduation date is April 2012.
Before I move on the Entrepreneur part, let me tell you about myself. I grew up in northwest Iowa after being adopted by my parents when I was 2 years old. I am Sioux Indian from Pine Ridge, S.D. where I have family still there. We have connected through Facebook and I find it fun and interesting! My parents have always been behind me even when they knew I was making a mistake. They let me make the mistakes I did so I would learn from them on my own and in the long run, would become stronger for the lessons I learned. I have 4 brothers and 1 sister that I grew up with. I have so many fond memories from childhood and some not so fond, but who doesn't have both?
My mom was a nurse and I remember seeing her doing schoolwork when I was young. So now that I am in school again, I think about her and know that I will succeed in school just as she did! My dad retired as a truck driver and from him I learned my directions, how to read a map, math skills, and how to work hard at whatever the task at hand is.
Now onto my becoming an Internet Entrepreneur. I am the administrator for a new website affiliated with Amazon. It is a "one-stop-shop" where people are able to do anything in one stop. From shopping, checking emails, networking, connecting with friends this site has everything a person needs. We will be updating the site regularly so our visitors will be sure to return and bring their friends with them.
I also have started a blog at Live Journal website. Feel free to check out my site there also.
