PROLOGUE The night was cool and breezy but it wasn't too cold. I
looked out of my window at the water that streched across. I could
only wonder what adventures a young eighteen year old girl like me
could have out there. The water was black and starry and matched
the sky. It was as if the sky could never end. The stars twinkled
above me. I could not sleep as I only thought of the amazing things
my older sister was doing right now. I recalled the many letters
Elizabeth had sent me telling me about her William Turner, the
handsome yet rogue Captain Jack Sparrow, and the curse of the Black
Pearl. It excited me and I wished I could join her but Father
insisted I stay in Port Royal and become a proper lady. He wanted
me to marry James Norrington, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
I quite enjoyed James' company and he wasn't bad to look at either.
But I was very much enchanted by Jack Sparrow who was so out of the
ordinary and so unpredictable. I sighed and shut my window. Tucking
myself back in under the safe and warm covers of my bed, I closed
my eyes and thought of myself as the dreaded pirate Red.
