What does he want? I thought angrily.
I answered my phone and said, "Nate, it's 6:00 in the morning. Why the hell are you interrupting my sleep?"
"I forgot you were such a biatch in the morning."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, what do need?"
"I need you to come with me to Diagon Alley."
"Look, Nate, I live in California. You may live in London, but I don't. How do you expect me to go there with you?"
"I added your fireplace to the Floo Network. I'll be there in 20 minutes."
"Ok then," I said to myself.
I went and changed clothes. I wore destroyed jeans, my shirt that said Punk Rock God Save the Queen (An awesome song!), and converse. I didn't need to look too nice, it was only Nate. He was one of my best friends. I smoothed down my blonde hair, which was a little crazy from last night when I went to a party with my sister. Remember Heather? We like each other a lot more now that we're both older. Anywho, I couldn't get my hair right, so I just put on my red Von Dutch hat and proceeded to the kitchen. I poured a bowl of cheerios and right when I started eating them I heard Nate's voice.
"Lo! Where are you?"
"I'm in the kitchen!" I yelled back.
Seconds later, I saw Nate, his rockstar hair hidden behind a hat. He was smiling. I smiled and ran towards him. I gave him a hug and a friendly kiss on the cheek.
"Are you ready to go?" he asked.
"Yeah, just let me grab my bag."
I ran upstairs and got my bag. I looked at my desk. My eagle owl, Athena, was sitting there with a letter attached to his leg. It was from one of my other best friends, Steph.
I'm guessing Nate already came to get you. Tell him I'm meeting you guys at Olivanders. We have to get him a new wand since you broke the other one.
The incident Steph was talking about was when Nate didn't believe me when I said I could do magic without a wand. He challenged me to a duel and, of course, I won. It ended with me snapping his wand clean in half. Anyway, back to the letter.
I miss you and will see you later!
I ran downstairs.
"What took you so long?" asked Nate.
As a response, I thrust the letter into his hand.
"Okay, so let's get to Diagon Alley."
He stepped over to the fireplace. He handed me a bag full of the sand-like Floo Powder. He took a handful and said "Diagon Alley!" He disappeared in the green flames, and I did the same moments after.
When Nate and I arrived in Diagon Alley, we knew we would have to go to Gringotts first, so off we went. We were just about to go inside when someone grabbed me and hugged me with tremendous amount of force.
"Lola! OMG! I missed you so much! Come on we have got to go shopping!"
"Hey, Steph! I missed you too. Ok we'll go shopping, but what are we gonna do about Nate?" I asked her.
"I can be by myself, you know," said Nate. "I don't always have to be with you guys. You're not my only friends."
"Of course we're not Nate-ey," I teased.
"Oh, shove it, Lo," said Nate.
So, Steph and I had to take Nate with us while we shopped. We were having tons of fun when I got a phone call.
"Hey, Lo, miss me?"
"Hey, Dray, yeah, a little."
"Sorry I haven't been to see you this week. I've been pretty busy getting school stuff and all."
"Oh, that's okay."
"Are you going to that school in California again this year?"
"No, actually. My parents finally took Dumbledore up on his offer and decided to let me attend Hogwarts."
"That's great! Just hope you get sorted into Slytherin."
"Because, it's the best house and that's where I'm at. It'd be a lot easier for you to get to my dormitory."
"Don't get too cocky."
He chuckled and said, "Alright, well I've got to go. I'll see you September 1st."
"See you then."
"Who was that?" asked Steph.
"My boyfriend," I told her.
"Oh? Where's he from?"
"He lives in the UK, but he usually comes via Floo Powder to my house."
Steph raised a brow.
"We don't do anything like that, ya nasty!"
"Oh, you're not an innocent child. You've kissed a lot more guys than advised by most people."
"You're just jealous 'cuz you don't have as much experience as me." I told her, with a grin.
"Whatever. This guy, does he have a name?" asked Steph.
"Yeah, it's Draco Malfoy."
Draco fans:*SCREAM!* "YESSSSfinally some Draco action!"
Harry Fans (You guys rock BTW):NOOOOWhat about Harry?
Me: Calm down. Keep in mind that this is still a Harry Potter love story.
Steph looked a little shocked, but recovered quickly.
"Do you know him?" I asked curiously.
"Oh. Yeah, he goes to school with Nate and me."
The rest of the day passed with no further mention of Draco.
We bought all of the stuff we would need for school. Soon, it was time to leave.
"Bye, Nate. Bye Steph. I'll miss you guys so much, but I'll see you in September."
We all said our goodbyes and departed.
I arrived home to find that my parents still weren't home from work. My mom was a doctor. She usually worked late. My dad was some kind of scientist who was working on things I couldn't pronounce and didn't really find that interesting. I didn't know what was keeping him. The bad thing about having a dad with a job like that was that he always seemed to have such high expectations of me. I suppose he thought I would grow up with a job fit for a smarter person than him, a more serious job than his. My opinion: I don't think that there is a more boring job than his and anything any more serious would cause me to die of boredom. I don't think I will be able to make him proud of me by doing things I want to do. He needs to understand that I'm a witch, he's a muggle. These are two totally different things. Therefore, our jobs will be completely different. Get over it, DAD.
As I was thinking about all this, my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID. I smiled.
(Lola is 13 years old.)
"Are you kidding me?" I asked my best friend, Hermione Granger. She had just figured out that we were related. Cousins to be exact. I had to admit, when I first met Hermione, she did look kind of familiar. I'm not sure why though. I felt like I'd seen her before.
"I'm serious, Lola. We're cousins!"
.:End Of Flashback:.
"Hey, Lo, What's up?"
"Oh, nothing much. Just got back from Diagon Alley."
"Awww I just got back from there too. I can't believe I missed you."
"So, any boys in your life?"
"Yeah, I've got a boyfriend. He's really sweet, but not too mushy, ya know?"
"Yeah. What's his name?"
"That's the one. I'm guessing you go to school with him."
"Yeah...uh...we've met." said Hermione. There was something about her voice that suggested...dislike? Maybe I just wasn't thinking straight.
"So, Herm, what about you?"
"What about me?"
"Geeze, I thought you were smart. What guys are you into?"
"Oh, just one really. I'm not sure if he likes me back or not though."
"Who is it?"
"Hey, Lo. I'm really sorry, but I have to go."
"Oh okay. Luv ya!"
"Luv ya too!"
Why did everyone seem to act the same way when they heard about Dray? It's not like he was evil or anything. I just shook it off.
Okay, we're fast forwarding to September 1st. Here we go!
I was going to go by Floo Powder to get to Nate's house. We would meet Steph at Platform 9 3/4. According to Nate, you had to run through a wall to get to the train that would take us to Hogwarts. Yeah right. Knowing Nate, he'd probably tell me to run at a wall just to see me collide head first into it.
We were going by car. I'm not sure how Nate's dad got a car, but it was really nice. I could tell that the car had been expanded by magic.
When we finally arrived at our destination, it was 10:45. We had 15 minutes until I had to get onto the platform.
"Come on, Lo. We've got to find Steph," said Nate.
We finally found her. I was ambushed by her hugs.
"Steph, I just saw you two weeks ago," I told her.
"I know, but I missed you."
"I missed you too. Okay, Nate said I had to run through that wall," I said, pointing to platforms 9 and 10."How do I really get to Platform 9 3/4?"
"You really do have to run through that wall, Lo."
"I told you!" said Nate.
"Whatever, you guys go first then."
"Okay," they said together.
And with that, they took their trolleys and ran straight through the wall.
"I guess they weren't lying," I said to myself.
I took my trolley and ran through the wall. I emerged on the other side to see a scarlet train. The Hogwarts Express. I went and found Steph and Nate. When I did, Steph said, "I'm really sorry, Lo, but Nate and I have to go sit with the other prefects."
"You guys are prefects? Wow, Nate, I would have expected different from you," I said.
Nate was one of the select few wizards who were from a wizarding family, but that went to a muggle school. Nate had gone to school with me (He moved to London last year) and we were always getting in trouble together. I guess Nate always had a bit of a bad boy side. Maybe that's why my parents never really liked Nate.
"I was just as surprised as you are when I found out," said Nate.
"Okay, guys, I'll go get a compartment."
We said our goodbyes and I jumped onto the train just as it began to move.
