Elle panted as she caught her breath. Although she could not hear the sound of footsteps anymore, she knew he was still there. Her body wanted to stop running but her mind said no as she ploughed on through the streets.

The streets seemed like a maze to her as she quickly ran down past Mystic Square before she tripped on one of the misshapen cobbles and fell hitting her head. By now the boy was standing at the end of the alley. She quickly shuffled backwards.

Her body ached and her neck stung from the bite. She wiped away the blood on her lips as she tried not to retch from the taste of it. Her breathing was heavy due to fatigue and fear.

As she felt the wall behind her, she knew it was game over. The boy came closer. His eyes were dark red in colour and his mouth was covered in bood.

"No! Please!" She screamed.

He crouched down in front of her and grinned before snapping her neck.

The news channels were always reporting animal attacks in Mystic Falls. So many they merely became an everyday occurrence. Now she knew the truth. They weren't animal attacks; they were the work of vampires.

Stefan and Elena exited the Mystic Grill. Suddenly, Stefan stopped and listened closely. He heard screaming and could smell blood. He quickly ran off in the direction of the screams.

Elena ran after him. "Stefan what's wrong? What did you hear?"

Once he reached the alley, he stopped. A boy stood in front of a blonde haired girl. She lay on the ground dead.

Elena gasped.

The boy turned and fled.
