CHAPTER 14: PLANS AND RUNS
(Edward Cullen’s Point Of View)
I turned off the phone and I told Embry, “put on the news. Quick.”
Sure enough, he quickly turned the television on and he changed the channel to the one that I wanted. The other people in the room looked at me and when I saw the subtitles, I told everyone to be quiet and come into the room.
We all watched as the lady talked about now the recent murder of a man and how his son was still missing and that now ten people were dead and twenty were missing.
“How did you know about this?” Carlisle asked.
“Renesmee started talking to Glen and he talked about it and she called us. It’s in Seattle.” I said and I looked at Carlisle.
“You don’t think that it could be the same place that they took me?” Carlisle asked.
“It could. Irina was smart. She knew that we would think that she wouldn’t be anywhere near here, especially a place where she was staying at before.” I answered.
They all nodded and said, “it wouldn’t hurt to make sure. They could actually be there and this whole mess could end right there.”
“Some of us have to stay here though. We need to watch out here and someone needs to stay here to protect Shauna Leigh and the others.” Sam said.
“I’ll stay,” Embry said.
“I will too.” Leah said.
“Both of us would.” Fred said as he lifted the hand that he had Haylynn’s in and she nodded.
“Would that be enough?” I asked Carlisle.
“She probably would be worrying about running instead of getting more hostages.” Rosalie considered.
“I’ll go ask Quil and see if he will come too.” Jacob said and soon enough, he went up the stairs.
All of us were silent, finding it hard to talk about anything when we knew that we could be so close to the others. We could be saving four little kids, Leah and Seth’s mother, and Jacob’s father and sisters. Shauna Leigh was now standing beside Fred and he let go of Haylynn and he wrapped his arms around her silently.
When Jacob came back down, he had Quil following behind him. You could just look at Quil and know that he hadn’t slept well in a couple of days. He had large bags under his eyes and he looked a little pale and drowsy for himself. He slowly lagged behind Jacob as they came down.
“I’ll come with you.” Quil said when they reached the bottom.
“Are you sure?” Seth asked him as he came over to Quil.
“Yeah. I want to find my kids. I should be the first face that they see when we save them.” Quil answered.
We all nodded and said, “we’ll find the Volturi and get them to help us.”
“I’ll look for them. You start going. I know the way.” Esme said.
We all nodded and I saw Kim stand up to get a hug from Jared and Sam did the same with Emily and he also kissed her and then kissed his sleeping baby girls who were in cribs that we all helped to set up and it was surprising to learn that Jacob was the one who helped he most.
Esme was the one who left first and Carlisle followed her and we all turned away, but by hearing him and his thoughts, I knew that he hugged her and kissed her, telling her to be careful. She told him the same thing before I heard the door open. Demitri gave Leah a short and long hug before kissing her cheek.
“We better go.” I said.
They nodded and everyone that was going filed out and we began the long run to the barn. I could feel the tension between us, but when we were halfway, Esme and the Volturi joined us. Me, Jasper, Seth, Jacob, and Quil were at the very front and by reading their minds, I knew what all of us wanted.
And that was Irina. I knew that Jacob, Seth, and Quil would stop once they had their family members, but it would be Jasper and I who called her and would get rid of her and the others for good.
