CHAPTER 15: RUNNING
(Irina’s Point Of View)
I was surprised when one of the newborns came up to me and Raoul as we were laying down in the field of our small barn yard. Both of us got to our feel and said, “Yes? What do you want?”
“A large crowd of vampires and werewolves are on their way and they are coming fast.” She said.
Raoul and I instantly got up.
“Thank you. Go tell the others to meet here. We’ll need to go and fast. Tell them that there isn’t time.” I told her.
She nodded and soon left. Raoul and I ran to the barn and as we stood outside the door, we told the guard to go to the field so that we could talk in private. Raoul hugged me and said, “we can’t fight. Not now. We don’t have everything that we need. Where are we going to go?”
“I don’t know, but we’ll get somewhere. How about in the actual city, but not Seattle. Another one. Washington D.C. something far away. We’ll stay hidden in the city and we’ll get a place under construction.” Raoul said.
I nodded and looked at him.
“We’ll have to transport them separately, well the kids can be in one together, but in case that they do catch up with us, we still have the others.” I said.
“I’ll start them.” He said.
Suddenly it hit me. Before he walked away, I took his arm and he looked at me. I smiled and said.
“If a lot of them are coming here to save the others, not many will be in La Push and Forks. If we can sneak past them some how and go to the Cullen house, I bet that we can get the people that we want. It might not be all of them, but it will maybe be some. We’ll need to hold them down though.” I said.
He smiled and said, “so we’ll have seven groups. Five of them can be small and take the hostages, you can take a couple to Forks, and the I can take the rest and lead the trucks to the middle of the city or something.”
I nodded and I sighed before I said, “we better tell them. All of the newborns except for our best should go with you.”
He nodded and sure enough, when we got to the field, all of them were there and they looked at us.
“Some people are on their way here and we can’t fight them. We have to leave. Some of you will be taking the humans while others will go with me and another pair of you would be going with Raoul.” I said.
“Now, we don’t want you to fight them. We have to wait them out and if any of you do end up fighting, it better be for self defense if they get you because if not, don’t bother coming back.” Raoul said.
They nodded except for the one girl who was I the back. She looked away and I took Raoul’s hand and when he squeezed it, I knew that he saw it to. I couldn’t loose another person unless she wasn’t going to help us in the first place. Raoul did a slight nod and I sighed before we split them into the five groups.
Once they were made, Raoul came into the barn with me. I opened the door and broke the lock when we got to the cell. I could see that Billy was holding his two girls while Sue stood up, the kids backed into the corner. They all stared at us as we came in and when I slapped the door open.
“All of you, out one by one. I don’t care who carries Billy.” I told them.
We got out of the doorway and I saw Rachel hold up her father again before they walked single file out. I was last before Raoul took them outside to where the five cars were ready to go, their doors open for the others to get in.
“Okay.” Raoul said and I saw one vampire grab Sue while another grabbed Rebecca and two grabbed the four kids.
“I’ll wait here and make sure that they are okay. You start dealing with Noelle.” I told him.
He nodded and he kissed me once before leaving. I sighed before I turned to them and said, “let the kids stay, but tie the others up. We can’t risk them getting away.”
The vampires nodded and I took Rachel’s arms and I led her to another car. A vampire took Billy into the back of a van and I then took Rachel to another car. I gave her to another pair of vampires and I saw them quickly drag her in the car before they got out the rope and they began to quickly bound her wrists behind her and her legs together.
“Follow Raoul.” I told them, “and the others will follow you.”
“Please, don’t hurt my brother.” Rachel begged before one of my newborns roughly stuffed her mouth with a cloth before tying it behind her head.
“I can’t promise that.” I told her.
She screamed before I walked away and to the others where everyone, but the kids got the same treatment. I told them to follow the others and they soon left and before I went with my group, I heard the loud scream of one of my newborns. I closed my eyes. No. I couldn’t stop Raoul. Things had to get finished and it would all be over soon.
*
We barely passed the Cullens, but they seemed to be on a straight route so we went through the water and up from La Push. By the time that we’d get to their house, I knew that they would’ve probably been at the barn, looking around by now so when we got to the house, one of my newborns was knocked to the ground. I smiled and then they held the person down as I looked to see who it was. I smiled and said, “Embry. You should know better.”
He growled in his chest and I saw him start to phase, but I held out my gun and I told him, “stop.”
He looked at me and stopped struggling. The newborns grabbed him and I said to the others, “get the rest. Leave him and the other wolves here.”
They nodded and soon enough, the door fell to the ground. I looked at Embry and I said, “Actually, we won’t need you after all. You or Leah. You’ll get what’s coming.”
