CHAPTER 25: AT HOME

(Demitri’s Point Of View)

I swooped Leah into my arms when I got out of her car. She wrapped her arms around the back of my neck and leaned her head against my shoulder. Seth was at the Cullen house visiting Jessie so it was only me and Leah here.

When we got to the door, I opened it and took her straight to the couch. After setting her down, I kissed her and she gave me a weak smile. I sighed and smiled back. I still couldn’t believe that I left her at the house. She had been in pain for days and she was lucky to be alive. Carlisle let me take her home so I got her car and drove there and picked her up.

Seth was happy to let me stay with her and now that I have been more alone, Aro hasn’t bothered with me at all, which was a good thing.

“Do you want anything to eat?” I asked her.

“Soup?” she asked me.

“Of course. Do you want anything to drink?” I asked her.

“Water?”

“Sure. I’ll be back in a second okay.”

She nodded and I kissed her once more before I left for the kitchen. I quickly went into the cupboard and I found a can of normal onion soup and I took off the top by myself before finding a pot and pouring the can full of soup in it. After that, I read the instructions and placed it on the burner and placed it on the right temperature.

Once that was done, I went to Leah again and saw her starting to shiver with cold so I went to her room and I got her blanket from there before I went back to her. She thanked me as I wrapped the blanket around her. Once that was done, I got the television remote for her. She thanked me again and she took out her hand so that she could take it. Once that was done, I felt her forehead. Though I knew that she was already going to be warm, I just had to make sure.

After that, I stared down at her and then stroked her hair.

“I’m thinking of growing it out.” She told me, after choosing a channel and looking up at me, resting the remote on the ground beside her,

“That would look nice. I like it either way.” I told her.

She smiled again and I left her to quickly stir the soup like the instructions told me and I then went back to her. She smiled at me again and she asked, “Demitri?”

“Yes?” I asked her.

“Is it okay if you stop that? I’m actually really tired.” she said.

“Of course.” I told her.

“Thank you. Sorry I got you to start it already.” She said.

“No, it’s okay.” I promised her and I then kissed her cheek.

“Thanks.”

“No problem.”

She then closed her eyes in exhaustion and I kissed her again and I whispered in her ear, “Sweet dreams.”

She smiled and I quickly stopped the soup and put a lid over the pot and I also turned off the lights for her. It was early in the evening so it was just starting to get dark.

“Demitri?” she asked me.

I went to her side again and I said, “Yes? I’m here.”

Leah opened her eyes at me and asked me, “can you stay here?”

I nodded and I asked her, “do you want to go to your room then?”

“No. I want to stay here.” she answered.

“Alright.” I told her.

She smiled and I picked her up, blanket and all before I carefully laid on the couch myself. I was a little bit big for it, but that didn’t matter anything to me or Leah. After that, I laid her on me on her back and I wrapped the blanket all around her. Being careful, she moved so that her stomach was on mine. After that, I wrapped my arms around her and she rested her head on my shoulder.

“Thank you.” she told me.

“It isn’t a problem.” I told her and she closed her eyes, “you seem warmer than normal Leah.”

“I have a headache, but that’s it.” Leah answered.

I leaned my head against hers and she smiled with delight and soon enough, she was fast asleep.
