CHAPTER 37: SERIOUS

(EJ Thomas’s Point Of View)

I closed the door behind me as I got into Edward’s driver seat. Glen was already there sitting beside me. He was angry. He had been in jail all night and half of the day. I just bailed him out. I didn’t know where I was going to take him, but he wasn’t coming to the Cullens or Jacob’s. Maybe a hotel.

Glen looked tired too. He was also a little pale. He must not have gotten too much sleep. I couldn’t blame him. What I did blame him for was getting himself in there in the first place. I couldn’t believe that he would just barge in and yell at Jacob and Renesmee. It wasn’t the Glen that I knew.

As I drove to Seattle I told him, “you’re lucky that Jacob is as nice as a person that he is.”

“Why? Would you have charged me?” he asked sourly.

“Honestly I would’ve.” I told him.

I didn’t look at him, but I could tell that he was surprised with my answer.

“You had no right to do what you did. Did you know that Renesmee was sobbing for the rest of the night?” I asked him.

“How can you stand it? She is going way too fast.” Glen said.

“I can control my feelings. Glen I’ve known Jacob longer than you. I’ve seen him with Renesmee. I’m proud to say that he would happily take a bullet if it meant that it wouldn’t hit her.” I told him.

“She’s still pregnant. I still can’t believe that she didn’t show at the wedding.” Glen said.

“She wasn’t pregnant before the wedding. I know Renesmee would want to wait till she was married. Also in secret Jacob made me a promise.” I told him.

“Then how is she so big?” Glen asked.

I was quiet for a minute until I told him, “she’s having eight kids.”

Glen’s eyes popped out at me. Soon though his anger came back.

“You have to know that Renesmee told me that Jacob asked her if she wanted to put them up for adoption. He did it because she was so surprised.” I told him.

“Though he wouldn’t want to he would’ve let all of his kids go through adoption? Just to make her happy?” Glen asked surprised.

“Yes. That’s how much he cares for her and how much he loves her.” I told him.

He was shocked for a little. For a while both of us were silent.

“You should’ve yelled at her. Renesmee needs our support not or anger.” I told him.

“They won’t be able to take care of them. They are just kids themselves.” Glen said.

“They are going to be living with Jacob’s father. Carlisle is also going to be giving them a lot of money to get them started. Esme said that since she just normally stays home that she could baby-sit the children while Renesmee and Jacob go to school.” I said.

“It’ll still be hard. Kids aren’t cheep. I remember having to help your mother a lot. Especially with money. There was double of her that she had to take care of. Renesmee may have Jacob, but there will still be outnumbered by six.” Glen said.

“I’m going to help too. A lot of Jacob’s friends will to.” I said.

“They shouldn’t have to. Both of them never should’ve taken this responsibility.” Glen said.

“Renesmee is terrified already Glen. What you did to her and Jacob did not help. Not at all in any way. You need to support them Glen and if you won’t then I’ll be the one to press charges on harassment. You’re like family Glen, but I love my sister and I won’t let her get hurt like that again.” I told him.

We entered Seattle. Glen looked surprised, but I just looked out the front window again. No doubt that Charlie already called Renesmee and Jacob that Glen was out. He told me that he would and I knew that Jacob was probably doing everything he could to be ready for another attack if it came.

I hated how they were alone at his house, but Irina hadn’t been seen since we left and Embry and Leah got hurt. I knew that Irina was probably staying low to make sure that we wouldn’t get another lead, but she had to attack sometime. She had to torture us more with the hostages that we taken. Claire and Quil were already loosing their minds. I just didn’t want my sister to get hurt and she wouldn’t be able to defend herself if she was pregnant.

When I pulled into the hotel I gave Glen three hundred dollars from my jean pockets. He looked surprised and I told him, “stay as long as you want, but I warned you. Don’t hurt my sister ever again.”

At that he thanked me for the money and left the car. I made sure that he was inside before I drove off.
