CHAPTER 42: MISTAKES

(Rosalie Hale’s Point Of View)

Noelle walked smoothly beside me. She had a bit of swagger in her walk. Almost like Alice. I agreed to hunt with her. Emmett was here too, but he left early to see the game with the guys. In the mix of everything the guys still found peace in watching the game. Even though every time they manage to break something in the house.

I could tell that Noelle was a silent type of person. She barely spoke to us all through the hunting thing. I could tell that she hated to hunt. Period. She absolutely hated herself for what she became. She hated having to drink blood for a living. She hated having to feel that humans all around her were her lunch. She hated everything that she had to do now. She hated having to be forced to eat humans when she was in the care of Raoul and Irina. She hated being apart of her clan to destroy my family. She hated how fast she was now. She hated everything about herself now.

If it were up to her she would find a way to kill herself so that she wouldn’t ever have to do it.

I guess I would be the one to start a conversation.

“So where are you from?” I asked her.

“Seattle.” she answered.

“Where?” I asked.

“Anywhere really.” Noelle answered weakly looking away.

I understood then. She was homeless before.

“Oh. I’m sorry.” I said.

“It’s okay.” I could tell she was being modest.

“Where was your family?”

“Streets as well. I barely ever saw them, but I managed to keep my money up for food, I couldn’t ever keep enough to get a hotel or house. I mostly lived on those homeless shelters.”

“How did you get the money?”

“I worked at a strip club. I was the stripper only a couple of times in the mix of three years. I didn’t want to do that. I made good money there with tips and everything. Though I may not have been a stripper there. I had to look like one. My boss was pretty nice. He let me in no question asked and he would sometimes let me stay at the apartments above, rented for the occasion of course, if I had no where else to go. He would also feed me sometimes. Along with another girl. I mostly worked as a bar tender. I got good tips from that.”

I nodded.

“That’s where Raoul found me. He paid me a freakin one hundred to strip for him at his house. I was doing it that night. I asked my boss and when he saw the ay job he agreed. Raoul gave me the biggest tip I’ve ever had so I knew that I couldn’t say no. I couldn’t say no and I knew that I could use the money.” Noelle said weakly.

That was sick.

“Don’t tell anyone. Please?” she asked, “Edward is the only person who knows.”

I nodded. Nobody would report her missing because her boss knew that she was homeless. No one probably knew that she was even gone. Raoul knew that.

“Do you want to know how I was turned? Or at least why?” I asked her.

I knew that telling her my story would help her. It would give her something to relate too. She nodded at me and I said, “I was raped.”

She stared at me.

“That puts all of the things I went through in respect.” Noelle said.

“Not really. You went it through hard yourself.” I told her as we slowed our walk, “but I thought that I really loved someone. Then one night I saw him drunk with a couple of buddies and I made the stupid decision to go over to them when they called me over from a walk home.”

She stared at me.

“Carlisle found me and turned me.” I summed it up good for her.

She nodded and we walked for a good mile being silent, thinking about each other. I was then when I smelt it. Vampires. Not any of ours. I grabbed Noelle’s arm and stopped her. She was wide eyed and I knew that she smelt it too.

“This is fresh.” I whispered.

In agreement, she nodded. I looked around and though I didn’t see anything, I could tell that I was being watched, “Run. Go as fast as you can. It’s better to get the others warned then stay with me and something happens to both of us. You’ll be a lot faster than me.”

She looked startled, but when I let go of her. She nodded and the next second, she was completely out of sight. I ran after her as fast as I could. I followed her scent and I would tell that she was half a mile in front of me.

Then suddenly I was pounced on and I fell to the forest floor. I was on my back and when I looked up I saw a male vampire on me. He had a bald head that gleamed against the moon. He was on my stomach and his hands held my wrists firmly on the ground. When I opened my mouth to scream for help, another vampire stuffed some sort of thick cloth in my mouth. I tried to scream and squirm as the same vampire tied another cloth between my teeth and tied it behind my head.

After that the two of them held tight to me as the vampire on me sat me up. The other vampire took my hands behind my back and bound them. They must’ve been prepared for something like this. They had to be with Irina. If they got spotted they’d need to take them or kill them so that their secret doesn’t get out. Irina was watching us. But for how long though?

“Hurry up!” The one told the other.

My ankles were then bound too. The one vampire got off of me and helped me stand up. I tried to scream, but the gag was doing its job good. The vampire sneered at me and he swiftly lifted me over his shoulder. I began to shake and squirm and scream so much that the vampire holding me held me tighter to his shoulder. They jumped up on the tree and we went from one tree to another. As we were going I heard Emmett.

I felt like someone had taken my heart when I heard his anguished voice in sadness that I’ve never heard him in before, “ROSE! ROSALIE! I’LL FIND YOU ROSE! I PROMISE!”
